Hi all,

Shayna great you got some good sleep with unisom. I'm sorry it went away the next night. Hopefully tonight will be a better one for sleep.

Bonty, I suppose it depends on what you eat three hours before bedtime.  I always have a small juice glass of milk, not the fat free, right before bed and it helps  with sleep early on. Dinner is around 5:00.  Last night we were at out son's and I had a piece of key lime pie around 7PM and slept for four hours when I went to bed. I typically go to bed around 9-9:30 and read for a while.

Hope this helps.

HM, I am glad the trazadone is helping with depression.  That really is great news.  Sorry about the couple of hours. Hopefully that improves soon.

TS, hope your sleep is still doing so very well and the taper off of Paxil is moving along.

Hi nightengale,

Great you got 4 hours of sleep.  Better than nothing,  but there’s plenty of room for improvement! Perhaps tonight.

My sleep wasn't great last night. Lots of waking up. Sore outside thigh muscles.

I can't get to sleep on an empty stomach. About an hour before bed I have a couple of light cookies.

Today is a day for doing nothing...( I didn't manage to do that, as you might have guessed).

Have a nice Monday!

Last night was rough for sleep. I have a Dr's appointment today. A general check up but I am going to get a referral to a GI specialist to talk about my GI issues. I'll bring up my insomnia and my taper but there's nothing he can do about it anyway.

I'll let you know how it goes. Happy Monday:)

Hello HM,

Sorry for your bad night. That's not what you wanted. Maybe tonight you'll have more luck.

I hope you'll have a fruitful visit at your Dr's. GI tract issues are a real pain in the a..abdomen. I've had stomach and IBS issues for most of my life. No fun! As you know.

Please let us know how things went. The best of luck!

Thinking of you, HM!  X

Hi all,

H

Anyone with better sleep last night? I hope so!

Mine was a 7 again. Slept 6 hours without waking up once! Wow. Went to bathroom and slept some more. What a difference a night makes: last night great, the night before not at all. But, what can you do?

Today was a day for paying a couple of visits. A 96 years old aunt in a nursing home this morning. Went on my bike: a wonderful ride, partly through a forest. This afternoon saw a former colleague and her husband. After coming home, I did some gardening.

I wish you all a pleasant day too!

Take it one day at a time.

I had another slim night. I am just waiting on my brain to heal.

Glad you had a great night TS and got to visit some family and friends as well as do some gardening.

Have a great Tuesday everyone,

HM

Hi HeartMost,

It IS going to get better,  but it's very frustrating at times, because it can take so long.

With each and every day we're getting closer to being healed again!

Stay strong!

Hi all,

First couple of hours not much sleep. After 2 am much better.

Today had 2 faces: first part really good. Second part tired and sore feet. Back pain. Probably did too much yesterday.

Oh well...this too shall pass, right?

Hope you all slept better and are able to enjoy your Wednesday.

Thanks, Shayna, for bumping that "dying" thread.  It reinforces the idea that the only way back to natural sleep is to eliminate all artificial sleep aids and try to hang on until it returns.  Sounds right but I can't imagine enduring zero sleep until that happens.  After zero sleep Monday night and the misery of Tuesday I took Unisom last night and to my chagrin it just made me feel drugged but not sleepy.  After 1.5 hrs I very reluctantly took an Ambien and slept for about 7 hrs.  Now I'm rested but completely at sea about what to do next.  I hope "Misty" got her sleep back.  I wish we could find out how that turned out.

Hi all, the road seems bumpy for some of us. HM glad you got some sleep. Benzo insomnia does teach us to be grateful for so very little.

TS, sorry to hear about your two faces. Hopefully things improve. You may have done too much.

My sleep has gone down to two then one hour the last two nights. Uff..I feel terrible.  Not sure what is going on with this turn around.

No walking this morning. My physical therapist comes today.

Tomorrow I get a mammogram. The first since the covid took over.  I'm not looking forward to that, but this certainly is not what is keeping me awake. At least I don't think it is.

Woops! I fat fingered my reply last time. Sorry about that.

NG, I also got about 2 hours last night. I'll take what I can get. I also have a mammogram coming up soon. No fun.

Happy Thursday everyone,

Hi HM, I hope you slept better last night. I did! I think between 4 and 5 hours, so I am happy.  Today I go to get my boobs smashed. Uff

My roses all need the old blooms trimmed off and fertilizer sprinkled around them.  I did go around the yard and spray the weeds that have appeared. I still have not fertilized the yard, as I wanted to deal with the weeds first.

These are things my husband used to take care of, but this summer he stopped or does not seem to remember how. I miss that help.

Take care,

NG

Hi NG,

Good sleep!  That's wonderful!  Really happy for you.

Your remark about having your boobs smashed made me burst out in laughter! Good things I hadjust finishedmy tea... Great way to describe the painful procedure.  Good luck.

Yes, it's that time of year. The garden screaming for TLC. Plus all the other stuff. So sorry your husband isn't able to help any longer.

Let's hope the others on here had good sleep too. Mine was good - some 6,5 hours.

Have a nice day.

Good day all,

TS, that's great you had 6.5 hours of sleep. Keep it up!

I was reading Shayna's other post about insomnia and I so understand.  Many on here do.  It does not make us feel any better, but at least long term insomniacs are out there and healing. I always think, they have no idea how bad off I have been, but in all honesty, they do. We just can't see it because of our own suffering.  Numerous times I believed I would not survive.

last night I slept fairly well.  Heard the rain about 1 am and then went back to sleep. Woke up again and finally looked at the clock. It was almost 5:15, so got up to walk and do some PT. I am also back to doing sit ups which I stopped doing after my knee replacement. It felt good.

TS, I'm glad you had finished your tea when you read about the mammogram. lol

Hopefully I can get the rose garden back into shape. It looks fairly okay, but a couple of the rose bushes have grass growing up all around and that drains the life out of them.  Pulling out the grass means getting attacked by rose thorns. UFF.

The heat is back on here. The next week it is to be in the 90s.

Hi nightengale,

I'm happy for you having had a good sleep. You can still do it, things are going to get better, you'll see!

Trust your body and mind!

You're right: there's so much silent suffering going on that others don't know about. We feel our own pain and misery best, because it's closest to us.

Be careful around the roses. Those thorns can be real bastards, so to speak.

Glad you're able to do your exercises again. They do us a lot of good.

We had some cooler weather this week, but still quite nice. Next week warmer weather is said to return. But with it come the rains...

Enjoy your weekend!

TS

Hi TS, I can only trust that my sleep will keep getting better and the insomnia will visit me less frequently.

There is a whole lot of suffering going on.  My physical therapist was shocked at how large this benzo group is. She herself has occasional insomnia. Thankfully she has never taken any prescription meds for sleep and hopefully never will.

Glad you have had some cooler weather your way.  When it gets hot here, the chances of rain goes away.

Take care,

NG

Hi all, I hope everyone is having a good weekend. Mine is going quite well. Today we are going to our son and his girlfriend's home for a BBQ.  They love entertaining in their new home.

I slept very well last night and only got up to go to the bathroom twice! I was awake a couple of times, but did manage to go back to sleep after a short amount of time.

Yesterday, smoke from California came across our state and the blowing winds stopped and so did the smoke. it settled in around our neighborhood, as well as the entire metro area. My eyes and throat were burning. I kept blinking my eyes trying to see better. It wasn't my eyes, it was the thick smoke.

This morning the smoke is still out there, but only my eyes are burning.

I wish you all a pleasant Sunday.
