I have had no trust in Drs since I got an ME/CFS diagnosis in 1996 soot is no surprise to me they know nothing.

Drs have done nothing but harm me since then.

I had no idea who Jordan Peterson was until his very public plight with benzos. I did some research to learn more about his controversial stances and found this very interesting article. [nobbc]https://www.vox.com/world/2018/3/26/17144166/jordan-peterson-12-rules-for-life[/nobbc]

Edit: Deactivated potentially questionable website

Why was this link "deactivated"? Can you please clarify why it's "potentially questionable"? I'm not familiar with whatever issues make it so. Thanks.

The link works if copy & pasted:

https://www.vox.com/world/2018/3/26/17144166/jordan-peterson-12-rules-for-life

The article concludes:

"..The empathy that he displays for men and boys in his BBC interview and 12 Rules for Life is touching. The problem is that he can’t seem to extend it to anyone else."

I know, Fi. I found the article, thanks. I just wanted to understand the reasoning behind the deactivation.

The fact that Vox is a far left wing trash rag is the reason why you see statements like this in its articles.

How dare JP say ANYTHING that calls attention to issues that concern men and boys! If he was bringing attention to anything that concerns women and girls he would be hailed as a hero.

The hypocrisy of the modern world astounds me.

Sorry for not explaining further Lapis2, when I clicked on it my virus protection blocked an intrusion so I didn't feel comfortable leaving it on the forum.

"Drug Experts on Jordan Peterson Seeking Treatment in Russia for Benzo Dependence"

"Peterson’s daughter said doctors in the West didn't have “the guts” to medically detox her father. But experts say that’s a misleading narrative.

.

While revealing that her famous father is physically dependent on benzodiazepines, Jordan Peterson’s daughter Mikhaila delivered a stinging rebuke of doctors in “the West.” But drug policy experts say some of her claims are dangerous and don’t appear to be evidence-based.

"Dangerous and don't appear to be evidence based" that kinda sums up the Peterson family narratives, imo.

I think Wood needs a bit of education re. Addiction vs Dependancy...

Thought I would just drop this here for newer members that may not have seen it..

He looks like death in that picture. Also, the guy is probably pushing himself too hard. He should wait a year and recover before getting back in the limelight.

Yes, he looks alive but not well. I, too, think he should take a break.

That's the dilemma.

If he waits a year there likely won't be any more limelight.

That's not his family's way.

The daughter needs hours clout to keep selling her cure all diet.

This entire thing speaks of a family that just wanted her dad "fixed" on a schedule convenient to ther family not the schedule of his needs.

Nobody hates him. From the cite I gather they would like him to be less "h" himself. He is a public intellectual.

This is a public forum too. JP is depending on us and the rest of google to get some hard wisdom, not just to be revered and protected from "the far left trash."

The daughter needs hours clout to keep selling her cure all diet.

It is both sad and tragic that on a website like BB that there are people who would still automatically dismiss health information that falls outside of the mainstream parameters as quackery or dangerous or whatever.

Good luck finding any mainstream sources to endorse any type of diet that falls on the opposite end of the "vegetables are king/meat is killing us" spectrum, but there are a growing number of individual doctors and incredibly intelligent intellectuals who are studying this and there are tons and tons of comments on the internet from patients who have been able to radically improve their health by eating more (or all) animal products.

When it comes to the benzo issue everyone here knows that the medical establishment in general is wrong about these drugs, but when it comes to diet we are supposed to shut up and do what the government and so called health authorities tell us to do? Good luck with that.

There's this wonderful thing called the internet now that allows common people like us to take matters into our own hands when it comes to our health. We don't have to be beholden to the government, big corporations and the media to tell us what is good or bad for us, we can do our own research and we can connect with other REAL people who are in the trenches to get a much more accurate and unbiased picture of things.

I suggest everyone think long and hard about this. If you think that benzos are the only supposedly safe thing that can harm you, you might be in for a rude awakening.

Unless this family understood and had enough knowledge on benzos, as this unfortunate health crisis hit them, it is fully understandable why they made the decisions they did.

I would have gone to the ends of the earth, if I thought I would find the answer and solution to what was wrong with me, when I was suddenly hit with excruciating acute level benzo symptoms.

Instead of finding solidly based answers over the duration of a year(2012-2013), I met up with disbelief. And near the end of that first year, I literally was ready to end up on the streets of a major city to die, and I'm not exaggerating.

Physically I knew I could not go on much longer...and NO one knew what was happening to me...including myself. At this point in time I had been inpatient at least 7 times between four different facilities, went to the ER numerous times, saw several medical specialists, was seeing three different Primary Care doctors on a fluke basis....and so on. This entire ordeal has felt like I've been hitting my head against a brick wall.

Although this family has the means to go as far as Russia for a hopeful cure, that doesn't mean they are currently grasping all that's involved in getting off these drugs. Watching JP go through this is like having to relive my own sad encounter with benzos. And my experience with these drugs is still happening, although off of them for several years now. There clearly is a learning process involved here....and this process is not partial on any level.

"Scientology And Jordan Peterson Close To A 5 Year Deal"

https://www.gishgallop.com/scientology-and-jordan-peterson-close-to-a-5-year-deal/

"Gilman Hot Springs, CA — According to Scientology insiders, controversial Canadian performance artist and occasional clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson are close to inking a deal with the Church. Former member Ted Blade, now an “SP” or Suppressive Person, a name given church defectors, says the Church has been trying for over three years to recruit Peterson to attract young men to Scientology.

Jordan Peterson is known for his reactionary views on religion, on transgender issues, on feminism, and for his incel and MGTOW-heavy audience. Although Peterson often makes morally questionable claims and engages in pseudoscience, his statements are notoriously incoherent, vague, jargon-laden, and ambiguous. This allows him to handwave criticism as mere misrepresentations of his babbling gibberish.

A perfect match, according to Ted Blade, for the Church of Scientology.

Tom Cruise Has a Word with Dr. Peterson

Earlier this year, actor Tom Cruise did indeed pay a visit to Dr. Peterson’s Office at the University of Toronto to discuss his and the Church’s position on the use of psychiatric drugs and psychiatry in general.

Scientology is particularly opposed to the psychiatric community and operates a front group, the Citizens Commission on Human Rights, to engage in anti-psychiatry campaigns,” continued Mr. Blade who, before his departure two months ago, was the director of counter-psyops, a team responsible to digging out the psychiatric activity within the Church.

“The Scientology practice has a great deal in common with bad psychiatry. Another front group is Narconon, a purported drug rehabilitation program. I mean, look how deceptively similar name to Narcotics Anonymous, and the support group for those living with alcoholics, Al-Anon. It’s not good. I’m not sure what kind of deal that came to Peterson, but he seemed to like it.”

The Church of Scientology said it doesn’t comment on internal matters."

You are letting your prejudices against an individual blind your bullshit radar. I say that as a non-fan of Peterson.
