Help with cut

Recommended Posts

[TH...]

Hi,

I'm going to cut down from 3.5mg of V to 3.25 in a couple weeks and I'm curious as to how to do this? I'm taking pill form, no liquid available at my pharmacy unfortunately. I have been cutting .5 up until now and decided to cut .25 onwards. I need suggestions on how's best to make the cut.

Thanks

@[TH...]  do you have a scale or are you cutting by eyeing the size of the pill

Well I have just been cutting the 2mg in half so they're easy. It's just then having to cut the half in half again to make the .25 if that makes sense. To make it more precise I was going to buy some scales and a razor blade to shave it.

@[TH...] I had same problem - think it’s the cost of liquid version vs tablets.

I cut 2mg diazepam into 4 - each being 0.5mg.
It’s fiddly so I didn’t attempt to cut smaller. I hope you can use scales for accuracy & that your taper is going ok.

You in the UK? Yeah liquid over here isn't easy to come by. How did you taper? MG wise? Did you drop just half each time? I need to go slower unfortunately.

Yes am in UK.
I was on a low dose, I tapered by  reducing by 1mg increments then went down to 0.5mg per Ashton and stopped. Not ideal.  - It’s far better to go slow.

Hi, I noticed that the lower I got, the smaller and longer I needed to go. Plus instead of cut & hold it was better to do daily micro taper or dmt to soften the landing a bit. You can see my history in my profile but note that I was never that stable to begin with, coming down too quick from high dose of 45mg V equivalent. Here is a post I made from another conversation that describes it at 2 mg:

I had a limited number of tablets and I wanted to be off as quick as possible.  First I calculated amounts in dose mgs, then I translated to tablet weight mgs. Because the actual reduction is based on the weight of the tablets, I had a jewelry scale (like this one: https://www.amazon.com/AWS-Portable-Precision-Digital-Milligram/dp/B0012TDNAM?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1 ) to weigh them and to slice away the right amount. Example here:

 One 2 mg tablet weighed 170 mg so if I needed 1.985 mg dose, I’d divide 1.985 by 2 and multiply by 170 mg:     1.985 / 2 = 0.9925 x 170 = 168.7 mg -> 0.1687 grams on scale.

How I did it was a combo of two methods.

At first, mostly while in higher doses of valium, I reduced by taking a percentage of previous day’s balance.  It’s a slower reduction, softer landing, less symptoms, more gradual descent.

So I was reducing by 0.75% of yesterday’s dose. (over 2 weeks that’s 10% = 14 x 0.75%). Here is an example if it was at 2mg, reduction amounts look like same 0.015 due to rounding:

day 1 reduction 2.000 mg x 0.0075 = 0.015 out of 2.000 mg = 1.985 = day 1 dose
day 2 reduction 1.985 mg x 0.0075 = 0.015 out of 1.985 mg = 1.970 = day 2 dose
day 3 reduction 1.970 mg x 0.0075 = 0.015 out of 1.970 mg = 1.955 = day 3 dose
day 4 reduction 1.955 mg x 0.0075 = 0.015 out of 1.955 mg = 1.940 = day 4 dose
day 5 reduction 1.940 mg x 0.0075 = 0.015 out of 1.940 mg = 1.925 = day 5 dose
day 6 reduction 1.925 mg x 0.0075 = 0.014 out of 1.925 mg = 1.911 = day 6 dose
and keep going till swallowing dust

When I reached lower doses, I started reducing by a fixed amount, based only on a percentage of first whole mg.

So I reduced by 0.95% of 2 mg every day (over 2 weeks that’s 13.3% = 14 x 0.95%). Here again is an example if it was at 2mg:

day 1 reduction 2.000 mg x 0.0095 = 0.019 out of 2.000 mg = 1.981 = day 1 dose
day 2 reduction                                   0.019 out of 1.981 mg = 1.962 = day 2 dose
day 3 reduction                                   0.019 out of 1.962 mg = 1.943 = day 3 dose
day 4 reduction                                   0.019 out of 1.943 mg = 1.924 = day 4 dose
day 5 reduction                                   0.019 out of 1.924 mg = 1.905 = day 5 dose
day 6 reduction                                   0.019 out of 1.905 mg = 1.886 = day 6 dose
and so on till it’s all gone

@[TH...]  i have tapered using the gemini scale.  im down to a very small chip of the pill and i still get an accurate weight.  i heard alot about switching to liquid, but for me the scale has worked out well so far.  wishing you the best ~~~jill

After splitting 10mg Vs by eye at first,I bought micro scales a couple weeks back and I’m glad I did and would definitely recommend it,.firstly I weighed tablets I’d split by eye,.even when it kinda looks  the same, weighing them on the scales it can be of by .09 or slightly more,.I also weighed 6 pills yesterday,.and not 1 was the same weight,.I said to my partner today,.since weighing properly and timing the dose by the exact hour,.I’m still withdrawing but it doesn’t catch me out as mutch, and you feel the windows/withdraws around the same time,.also you would be amazed how much a little V crumb weighs,.i honestly wish I’d got scales earlier.

Thank you for your description there.

So I'm currently on 3.5mg, how would I start to micro taper from here? Could you please explain how I would go about doing that?

Hi, if I was tapering daily again, using 2mg dose valium pills,

1. I would weigh 10 pills and divide total weight by 10 to get an average single pill weight.
2. Then I’d decide over how many days I’d want to taper one pill, and I chose 120 days
3. If one pill avg weight was 0.170 grams, divided by 120 days would be 0.0014 g less per day
4. I’d look at prior day’s pill weight (say 0.170 g) and minus 0.0014 g to get today’s weight (0.1686 g)
5. I’d slice or scrape from new pill enough so it weighed 0.1686 g, keeping dust in empty pill bottle

I always checked over my math twice and weighed it twice. If I wanted to know where I’m at as far as mg dose at any point, I’d just take current reduced pill weight in grams divided by 0.170 grams and take result times 2 (for mg) to give me current mg status. So in above example that’s:
0.1686 / 0.1700 x 2 = 1.98 mg to go.

If I was currently at 3.5mg V, my steps would be same but I'd have one whole pill (2mg) and 3/4 of another (1.5mg).

1. My goal would be to continue reducing 3/4 pill.

2. Say that yesterday's 3/4 pill's weight was 0.1275 g.

3. Today I'd want it to weigh 0.1275 - 0.0014 = 0.1261 g.

4. Tomorrow I'd want the weight to be 0.1261 - 0.0014 = 0.1247

and so on...
