Lyrics stuck in head? Anybody

Before i started tapering slowly, i dropped the equivalent of 2 mg Valium in one go... 14 days later i woke with the feeling i had an axe buried in my head, covered in cold sweat and the song "Express Yourself" by Madonna on repeat but what was worse was it was at a slightly increased speed, it was awful... over and over and this happened for 3 mornings in a row... the moment i opened my eyes... music was ON.

I still get songs in my head, usually from waking up but i can change them now... one may persist but it's not like invasive like it was when i made that big cut... but sure, i pretty much always have DJ brain... it can be annoying but it's not distressing... it's merely acts as a distraction at times i think.

it's got to be some kind of glitch or short circuit from the lack of benzo's. throughout tolerance, everytime i would cut the music would be on in my brain or i'd be singing something when i was in the bathroom and not even know it. i don't think i had this before benzo's or when i was on heavy doses.

Mine took a break for a little while but is back. Thank god it's country music. One time I had the damn Dora  the explorer theme locked in my head.

I have always had this....sometimes it goes on for days.  I have ADHD so nit sure if maybe has something to do with that.  My brain seems to like to focus on rhythmic things.  Sometimes it won't be lyrics but some phrase or sound that just keeps looping in my brain.

I'm 12 days into cold turkey detox from .5 Xanax.  Today's symptoms are worse than other days.  Trouble sleeping last night but had vivid dreams and woke up with very loud tinnitus and digestive problems.  Digestive problems are not usually at the top of my complaint list because the headache, neck, jaw and shoulder pain usually takes the forefront.  I'm having muscle twitching and dizziness too.  This too shall pass, right?

i'v totally always had music going on in my head it never stops. fortunately its usually music i like that comes from my collection. its always one thing or another but if i hear a new pice of music that i really like then thats gonna be the one in my head till i play it enough times till it becomes old music.

i also get lyrics stuck in my head sort of but because i hardly ever pay attention or understand lyrics i just make them up in my head with really silly words that have nothing to do with anything.

"Goin' Mobile"  (the who)  MAKE IT STOP! PLEASE!!!!

I'm goin' home

And when I wanna go home

I'm goin' mobile

Well, I'm gonna find a home

And we'll see how it feels

Goin' mobile

Keep me movin'

I can pull up by the curb

I can make it on the road

Goin' mobile

I can stop in any street

And talk with people that we meet

Goin' mobile

Keep me movin'

Out in the woods

Or in the city

It's all the same to me

When I'm drivin' free, the world's my home

When I'm mobile

This one has probably been going on now for a good couple of weeks -- morning, noon, night, while sleeping, blah, blah, blah.

Where's the screaming emoticon on here?!

Aw, I went through a HAIR phase too!

Then there was the Smokestack Lightning phase, I picked that one up from the Viagra commercial on TV. LOL.

After you asked, Bird, I really started thinking about why I have that particular song stuck in my head. I think it may have started because of some of the lyrics really jiving with what's going on in my life right now with this taper thing:

"My body is walking in space....

On a rocket to the 4th dimension....

Total self-awareness, the intention....."

That about sums me up. So, maybe sometimes the songs that we get stuck in our heads might be related to how we're feeling about what's going on in our lives right now? And we subconsciously pick songs with lyrics that we feel define us at any given time?

I think I may be overanalyzing but there's got to be something to this. Why so many of us? And why do they loop for weeks at a time and then morph into some other song out of seemingly nowhere?

koko -- in the 4th dimension  :D

i have my own made up tune of 'al capone' running through my brain all the time and lately

al capone, al capone, al capone. i made that up when i kept singing 'i keep on, i keep on, i keep on and i keep on turned into al capone, so now i'm singing 'al capone, al capone, al capone. but it's really 'i keep on, i keep on, i keep on.

makes sense? it's so stupid and i can't shake it! shake it sister :D

The song that has a totally new meaning for me and about brings tears to my eyes is Hotel California. I never knew it was about drug addiction until the benzo beast got me. I'm too shy to dance and carry on in public but my new favorite song is Vivir Mi Vida by Mark Anthony. I love the words.

hey stevie,

i've also been having that song in my head and singing it in the shower since i've been watching that special on HBO 'The History of The Eagles" have you seen it?

Don Henley said that basically the song Hotel California song/lyrics are about the ~journey from innocence to experience~ and all of the other hogwash stories about it being anything else just isn't true. anyway, he said that on the special--it was such a great special and i can't believe they were only together for 10 years the first time and they're just an amazing bunch of musicians and great songwriters. song power is where it is!--i was supposed to be doing what they're doing but stupid and evil benzo's got in the way--i hope i still have time :'(

3 months off benzo,s now and it started about 2 weeks ago, can,t seem to shake it..... :tickedoff:

Hugs for you all

I have this too. Every day since going c/t from xanax. Fragments of songs & lyrics, from the time I wake up til bedtime. It's made me not want to listen to music, which I always had a passion for. I wonder if I will get back to loving music again.
