Went to bed and fell asleep approx. 2AM (I think) and awoke 9AM but sleep was interrupted twice and it took about an hour after one awakening to get back asleep, so approx. 6 hours maybe. I feel ok except for the constant anxiety. Ugh---

Enjoy your Wed. everyone.

Wow, AB! Good for you. I haven't slept more than 3 hours straight in a long, long time. over a year. I am so happy for you:) Last night was better than the night before for me, but still not exceptional. I went to bed at 10pm and fell asleep within an hour, which for me, is good. I was up and down going to the bathroom and finally had my miserable cortisol surge at 7:30am. I think I got about 6.5 to 7 hours of sleep after being in bed for 9.5 hours. I feel a little better than I did yesterday. I have more energy.  I didn't work much yesterday. I hope I can today. I have a lot of work on my website to do.

I have a 90-minute massage in an hour, and I am really looking forward to it. My kids got it for me for Christmas. I love massages. I wish I could afford one every day, lol.

Hello everybody.

AB,  Congrats on your sleep. 6 hours really is quite nice. Sorry the anxiety is still there. I had that for over a year and a half. It was horrible, to put it mildly..let's hope it eases off soon.

HM,  congrats on your sleep as well. That's quite a good night in my book.

I am jealous of you! I would love to have a massage too! I absolutely love them! There's only one downside to them: they're soo addictive. Enjoy this hour.

My sleep was  "OK" again .

I go to bed around 11 pm and usually fall asleep after some 20 minutes. Lately I  wake up at 2.30 am, sometimes exactly at that time! go to the bathroom and fall asleep again straight after hitting the old sack again. Nowadays I wake up around 7.30 am. The last 2 hours or so sleep is very light, because of painful spots all over my body. I think it's Fibromyalgia.

Going to make an appointment with the GP tomorrow: my back is bloody painful at the moment. Ugg.

Today was a lovely day with lots of sunshine,  not much wind and 10 degrees Celsius. Went for a bike ride this afternoon. Quite enjoyable. A couple of Paracetamols helped to ease the pain just enough to make it a nice outing.

Rain forecast for the next 2 days, so that was it for now .

Have a nice Wednesday.

TC, did you hurt your back or is this more of a chronic back pain condition? I sleep in a twin size adjustable bed. I have to sleep with the head and foot of the bed elevated to minimize pressure points or I wake up with an aching, very painful lower back.

Enjoy the massage HM. I think I would love this, although I have never had one. Glad to hear that your sleep was better, altho not perfect.

Hi AB,

Yes, it's a chronic thing. I've had a bad back for longer than I care to remember. But lately it's a lot worse again. It's mostly one really painful spot in my middle back. Ugh!

Massages are a bit of heaven. Try and book a couple! You'll love it!

Sleep well!

Hi all,

Slept well, I hope!

Just got back from the GP's. Have a  appointment to see the orthopedic dr. Would like to have a MRI- scan done. Let's wait what is gonna be next.

Feeling good right now.  Hope the feeling lasts.

Rainy and coldish today, so not much chance of a bike ride. Indoor stationary bike, here I come!

Enjoy this Thursday!

Hi all, I hope you are all doing okay and sleeping better.

TS that is great you are going to an ortho specialist for your back.  An MRI sounds like a good idea.

How is your weather? The stationary bike is perfect for cold, rainy days.

I'm doing okay and sleeping a little better. My knee improves each day/week. I have less pain driving, which is a big plus.  I've been out to the neighborhood grocery store and to Costco.

We received 9.2 inches of snow and the temps dropped to 6 below zero F. Right now it has warmed up to 8 degrees F.  Schools and universities were cancelled yesterday, but today they are back in session.

Hey guys,

TS, let us know how the ortho goes. I have lower back problems since I fell in the ice straight down onto my coccyx 30 years ago. I also have head and neck problems from a car accident. I hope you feel better after the orthro doctor.

NG, I am glad you are getting out and about. That's wonderful:) I don't tolerate the cold well at all, due to a thyroid condition so I am happy when it doesn't snow here, although I admit snow is very pretty.

AB, I hope you got some good sleep again last night. Getting those long stretches of sleep must feel great.

Last night, I got about 7 or 8 broken hours. I actually was able to go back to sleep this morning after my cortisol surge and that has only happened a handful of times. I went to bed at 9:30 and was up at 9am but rolled around awake a lot for a total of no more than 8 hours of sleep. I might get a coffee today and see if I can be productive. I had a coffee about 2 weeks ago and it tasted delicious and helped my energy, but it kept me up that night. I hope I can sleep tonight. I really miss how much coffee helped me be productive and feel good. Wish me luck. I am trying some again today.

I know I say it all the time but, man, I can't wait until I am sleeping 8+ hours every night.

HM, I would give anything to get 8+ hours of good quality sleep on a regular basis. I know I would feel so much better during the day, despite the constant anxiety. Would it not be great if we had like an internal sleep switch in our brains that we could flip off each night and not wake back up until 8 hours of deep relaxing sleep had elapsed = pure heaven. haha

I love the sight of snow but I think I will pass on all the cold weather NG. Like HM, I do not tolerate cold weather too well. Glad the knee rehab is still going good.

Enjoy the indoor bike ride TS. I just finished up one. I used to do 2 (20) min sessions on my bike. I am now doing 4 10 min sessions. Same amount of total time, but the short 10-min sessions seem to help me manage my anxiety a little better but IDK for sure.

Enjoy your Thur. everyone.

Hi all,

HM, that's good that hydroxyzine helps with anxiety.  The naps are a nice benefit, also.

During the night, after taking hydroxyzine I have a lot of anxiety throughout the night.  This is a new thing since my surgery and taking that medication.

Perhaps putting the two together has that affect on my body.

AB, I don't care for the cold, either, but it is a lovely scene to enjoy from inside my cozy, warm, house.  I do feel for those who have to be out in it, which is never any fun unless you are, skiing, snowboarding and other winter sports.

I like the idea of an internal sleep switch! That would be lovely.

I find that splitting up the times for walking works well like you are doing it. I noticed yesterday as I walked, my knee reached a point where it felt quite good, which was at the 15 minute mark, so I stopped.

TS, I hope your back is less painful today.

Excellent NG....listen to your body. It knows best. You are on the mend to a nice recovery.  :)

Enjoy your Friday Everyone.

My sleep was so-so last night.....

Good morning benzobuddies.

I can feel that last cut really good now.  My blood pressure is usually normal but it has been elevated the last two days with more heart palps than usual. My sleep is already poor and now it is a little worse (LOL).... but that is the nature of the benzo beast I suppose.

Went to bed at 2AM and awoke at 7AM I think, so maybe 5 hours.

I am going to try reading a book today that I picked up from my local Library yesterday for brain distraction.

Enjoy your Sat. everyone.

Hello BB people,

Wow, quite a few postings.

Glad the general consensus is, that sleep in slowly improving.

NG, great, that your knee is getting  better day by day. All of the PT and walking have  paid off.

Must  be a lovely few from your house. Snow is wonderful to look at, but that's about it.

After a great Thursday morning I had a really bad afternoon and evening. I had to fight to keep awake, I constantly felt like falling asleep or even fainting for hours. After that my legs were all jelly like. Quite scary to be honest.

Luckely come next morning everything was back to ' normal '.

Had a walk every day of this week. Plus 5 bike rides.

My sleep is normal : some 5 hours solid sleep followed by a few of light sleep .

This evening, tonight and most of tomorrow is going to give heavy rain and  strong winds. So no walks and bike rides tomorrow. I'll probably be watching the Olympics instead.

Have a peaceful Sunday.

Sounds scary TS. What do you think might have caused this? Has it ever happened before?

Hey sleepyJo,

Sorry to hear this. I have had some 1s and 2s and they suck. You said in your initial post you were Rx'd benzos and z drugs for colon pain. Were you having any problems sleeping prior to the colon pain?  Chronic pain makes sleep impossible, esp. if you are hurting really bad.

Hello everyone,

I think I fell asleep around 3:30AM and awoke 9:30AM. That was a decent amount of sleep for me.

Anxiety is still kicking my butt tho.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

Hey folks,

TS, I am so sorry you had such a rough day the other day. That's tough. I hope you are feeling better now.

AB, I am so happy for your long stretch of sleep! That's wonderful.

NG, So glad your knee is tolerating walking. I need to go for walks too. I have no excuse.

Sleepy Jo, I have had many 2-hour nights myself. In fact, Thursday and Friday were both about 2.5 hours for me. Wednesday was 8 hours so I tolerated it better than I might have. Last night was about 5 hours for me, so today was a little better than yesterday.

I have so much going on right now. Starting a business, taking classes, working and trying to deal with little sleep. Wish me luck!

Have a great night!

Good day all,

TS, if that happens again, would you consider calling the doctor?  On a positive note, it passed and you are fine, now.

HM, I wish you the best starting a new business and taking classes.  Keep thinking positive!

AntiB, your sleep is doing quite okay.  Like you, I have  of anxiety, which is stressful in itself.  Since the surgery, I also have muscle spasms and restless leg in the surgical leg.  Mostly, it comes in the evening, right after the evening meal, when I settle down to watch TV.  During the day, I have very little.

It doesn't matter that I sit on my computer and don't do any walking around for periods of time, my legs are fine. Come evening and everything changes.  I have no idea why.

A new physical therapist is coming today at 9 am.  That's a bit early, so we shall see how it goes. I hope she can give me some better answers as to why my leg stays bent.  The pervious therapist said to keep working on the exercises, which I have been.  The bent knee started a couple of weeks before the surgery. I assumed it was from the pain and swelling in my knee.  Why it is still there has me concerned.

Take care everyone.

NG

Hello everybody,

HM,  good luck with your activities! Wow, now there's a busy bee!

AB,  that was a good night's sleep. Way to go,

NG,  good luck with your new physical therapist. Hopefully she can fix your bent knee.

Sorry your anxiety is back. No fun, right?

I think I had a touch of the flu, or perhaps even Covid-19.  Who knows. I'm not sure what I would do in case it happens again. Probably take a couple of painkillers and see what happens.

In hindsight I think the Paxil I was on for a year and a half, did work to control the Polyneuropathy. I quit it on December 31st. Slowly but surely the nerve pain has returned. Sh*t!

I'll be seeing the orthopedic doctor next week and hope to find out wether the pain is caused by stenoses or not. I may want to start taking Nortryptiline for the Polyneuropathy. Ugh.

Today is a nice day. After yesterday's deluge today is sunny. Makes a nice change.

Try and make your day a pleasant one.

Good day all,

TS, it is possible you had the flu or covid.  Always good to think ahead about what you might want to do if this happens another time.

Would you ever consider taking Paxil again? Have you taken Nortriptyline before. It might be worth a try to see how the pain goes.  Pain is so debilitating.

The new therapist, was one who I had with my first knee. She focused on the bent knee and so we shall see how that goes.  She is quite good, I think.

Actually they all are with this group, which is nice.  I must be diligent with doing follow up therapy on the days she's not here and keep up with the walking.  Actually, I am quite determined to get the knee straight without another round of surgery, which would put me back to square one. meh

It is windy here this morning. I must plan my day out and decide if I want to venture somewhere.

Last week at Costco, my cell phone disappeared.  I have my grocery list on it, but never put it down. It either goes in my purse or my pocket, which on the coat I was wearing, is not deep.  I stood up several times to help my husband find something or lift something and assume it fell out then.

We left the electric cart and the buggy my husband was pushing and went to customer service. The fellow who waited on us, said they are always returned. I was skeptical, but could only hope he was right.  He suggested we hang out in the food court and give it 15 minutes and so we went to check out and returned after that.  Yes, the phone had been turned in!! My first outing to Costco after my surgery didn't go very well, but it ended well.

Lesson learned, put the phone in my purse.

Hi Nightingale,

I'm no't sure if I would take Paxil again. It wasn't that bad. But I'd rather give Nortriptyline a go. That and Amitriptyline are always mentioned as being the best for nerve pain. My nextdoor neighbour has polyneuropathy as well. He could hardly walk for five minutes because of the pain. He was first put on Amitriptyline, which worked like a dream. Later he had it changed to Nortriptyline. This is said to be better for elderly people.

But first I'll wait for the test results at the orthopedic doctor's.

It's always nice to see a familiar face when you need therapy etcetera. She knows you and can give a more personal touch, so to speak.

I hope the knee gets straight in this way, without the set-back an additional surgery would bring.

Luckely there are still good and honest people in this world! So nice to see they returned your phone. On the other hand, modern phones are practically impossible to crack. All kinds of safeguards are built in. But still, you got yours back! Nice! All is well that ends well.

I took a somewhat more powerful painkiller this morning.  Ibuprofen in 200 mgs. It does help I am happy to report. One setback though,  they are a little more risky stomach-wise. But what a joy, to be without that bloody pain for a couple of hours.

I didn't walk today.  Just to give my feet a rest.

Whatever you do today, have a lovely day.

Hi all,

I hope you all slept better.

Mine is OK, but I do wake up because of pain around 6.30 this last week or so.  This morning was a little better.

Took 2 Ibuprofen tablets at breakfast. They ease the muscle pain, but not the nerve pain.

Went to get the groceries.

This afternoon it rains, so a good excuse to stay inside. Hah

Trying to rest my feet for a day or 2,3,...

My feet feel cold as ice on the inside, even though they feel warm to the touch. Sometimes there's a " burning cold " sensation. All weird stuff. Pebbles in shoe, walking on moss.

My back feels like giving out at times.

But apart from that,  I feel great...Make any sense?

Try to enjoy your Wednesday.

Good day TS,

I hope you feel better today. That's a lot to have going on.

Ibuprofen can do a number on the stomach, but eating first helps.  It's good they ease the muscle pain.

The cold feet on the inside is interesting. I think mine are doing that too, as when the muscle spasms begin, I take off my sox and it helps stop the spasms, but my feet feel cold. If I touch them, they feel warm.  It is disconcerting. Pebbles in the shoe and walking on moss would be, also.

The back giving out feeling isn't good. Hopefully it does not give out.

Last night was a bad night, as was the day. I am stressing about my knee bend, but stressing doesn't help, so I tried to put that aside.  The anxiety lasted throughout the night.  My therapist comes again on Friday, which will be good.

Nothing planned for day, except PT.  I do need to figure out something for tonight's meal.

Take care,

NG

Hi NG,

Sorry you had a bad night as well as a bad day.  Anxiety is a bitch. Stress can really screw things up. But what can we do about it. Sh*t happens! Let's hope our body and mind soon take a turn for the better.

Having to figure out what to eat happens to us all, I guess. The number of vegetables I can eat is rather limited  because of my IBS. So there's a lot of things I really love, but just cannot have. Whatever you decide on, I hope you'll enjoy it!

The rain stopped earlier than forecast,  so I had a nice bike ride after all. Not a lot of pain.  Visited a cousin and his wife. They're off for another holiday tomorrow. 7 weeks in the Alps. They absolutely love to travel. They're away for at least 9  months of the year.

Hope your day gets better.

TS
