HELP!!!!!!

Hello BBs. I can’t believe that the urologist that I saw last Friday reported back to me today that I have another uti that should be treated with Cipro!  I said no, but am worried because I am not responding to all the other antibiotics…Ceftin, Macrobid, Rocephin, amd Clindamycin.  I am so scared so if anyone has any suggestions or comments I would appreciate it.  I have done all the OTC stuff….D-Mannose, Vitamin C, Probiotoc with lactobacillus.  Will probably have some exploratory tests soon!

GG, did the doc do a culture and sensitivity test on your urine to find out exactly which microorganism is causing your UTI's to find out exactly which antibiotic to give you?  When I was doing my clinical rotation for my Med. Lab. Tech training, I used to do tests.

I’m so sorry to hear this, GG. I know how frustrated you must be. I get UTI’s, but macrobid ususlly takes care of it for me.

Sending hugs and prayers for an answer soon.

Sandy🙏❤️

Yes, Becks, I have had many cultures done by my internist, a urologist, and tests done in the hospital.  Both e-coli and enterococcus have shown up.  Very scary situation at this point!

Hi Sandy.  I was put on Macrobid and it made me very I sick.  I am getting very nervous and can only pray that the doctors figure out what is going on.  I used to get UTI’s years  ago, but they always cleared up with one round of antibiotics.

How are you doing????

Hugs,

Becks, I spoke with an infection disease specialist and he said he did not see a reason to test me for Lyme disease.  He said that my CNS was out of whack because of benzos and my resistance was low and I am more susceptible to infections, and to follow through with a urologist.

I just read online that E. Coli and Enterococcus are both present in our feces.  Wiping front to back.  Maybe you're infecting yourself somehow from your urinary habits?  Maybe you might need to use a different laundry detergent or fabric softener?  I used to get UTI's from a laundry detergent I used to use and then switched to a different the brand.  Also I only wear pure cotton panties and clothes.  No synthetics.

Sandy, this is such wonderful news!  Now you can continue on your path to recovery knowing that your recent health scare can be put to rest.  Interesting about the symptoms letting up when your cardiologist reassured you that your heart is fine.  I had a long meeting with my internist yesterday centered around my continuing battle with  reoccurring UTI issues, and the topic came up as to why I felt amazingly well in the hospital.  Of course the antibiotic given by IV along with needed fluids helped with the infection, but the doctor agreed that my mental health was much better as I felt safe and cared for.  The fear of something awful happening to me was gone and I was able to get up each morning, tidy my hospital room, put on makeup, and take three daily walks around the hospital floor.  I ate well with no GI issues, had no headaches, and walked out after a three day stay feeling very well.

The point here is that my doctor thinks I continue to have these UTI’s because I focus on them and what they could do to me.  He admits that my infections are real, but just like our windows and waves, my immune system goes in and out based on my reaction to illness.  He wants me to focus more on the proven fact that test after test show me to be healthy, but with a somewhat fragile immune system that bounces back and forth largely based on my mental attitude!!!  I will see a urologist tomorrow who will probe into the physical reasons why I continue to have the UTI’s.  I am very hopeful that this health concern will be addressed and I will be able to move forward with my recovery.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I fell down two steps at a friends house last Friday evening, while trying to navigate from a multi-tiered patio onto a floating pontoon.  Was able to take a lovely rode around the lake, but by Saturday morning I ended up in the ER’s trauma unit (because I am on a blood thinner) where they X-Rayed every part of my body, along with a brain MRI to make sure there was no brain bleed.  The good news is that I only badly fractured my right ankle and am now wearing a structured ankle boot and will continue to do so until I can put weight on the right foot.  My doctor said that the trauma of the fall probably put me back into a more severe fight/flight response pattern and thus the UTI returned.

I have been instructed by the doctor to drink plenty of water, stay on a good probiotic, take vitamin c, and focus more on the positives of my health and stay away from negative thinking!  The infectious disease specialist agreed with all the above, and saw no need to test me for Lyme.  He was very tuned into benzos and admitted that he no longer prescribes Ativan as a sleep aid for his hospitalized patients.  He agreed that I have been battling to get back into homeostasis over the past three years, and that I would get there.

I am so fortunate to have really understanding doctors who support me and agree that Valium or any other benzo should never be given for more than a couple of weeks.  Some doctors are beginning to understand the damage that can be done by this class of drugs and are putting down their prescription pads!

Hugs to all.  I will be taking a break from BBs for a while, but will be thinking of all of you and will pray that your healing will continue and bring you back to the happiness of living a normal and healthy life!!!!

Love, GG

Wow GG, this is an amazing update!  I am very impressed that your Drs have understood the challenges of benzo recovery and the nuances of the immunomodulation based on mental health.  They obviously understand the interaction of mind and body and that really surprises me in a good way.  You are indeed fortunate to have such enlightened practioners!

I'm so sorry to hear about your foot mishap and yet more challenges for you.  I do hope you will find your balance soon and leave all these health concerns behind.  Always thinking of you! Smooches!  :smitten:

Hi Becks, I am one of the most hygienic people around.  I have always followed what we women know to do to keep bad bacteria from moving from the back to the front.  Plus, I use only mild detergent with no additives for my clothes. And, I only wear cottton underwear.  My internist says the reoccurring infection has nothing to do with my personal hygiene, but more likely that my immune system is down and my uterus was perforated and the infection may have spread.  I will see my OBGYN tomorrow and she will probably order a specialized test to see further into the pelvic region.

Thanks…how in the world did you get rid of your UTI so quickly????  Lucky you!  Plus, the infectious disease specialist did suggest an easy to install bidet for additional precautions.

Hello Deanna 2020.  You sound super duper and I take it you are doing well….please say, Yes!

The ankle is healing quickly and nicely, but I so wish this reoccurring UTI would also exit now!  Too many UTI’s is wearing me down emotional and physically and I am really getting nervous as to what is going on and why the UTI comes and goes?  I have really great doctors, and am now seeing a urologist to see if she can figure out what is going on..is something being missed?

So tell me about you….please🙏😍

Hugs,

GG

Hi GG!  I am doing pretty darn well.  I still have symptoms here and there, but they are mild and sometimes fleeting.  I do best when I stick to my clean healthy diet, get enough sleep, and get enough physical exercise.  I have been gardening and shopping, also seeing friends and family, etc.  But every now and then I'll do too much or deviate from my routine and I'll have about a week or more of feeling a bit lousy.  I'm actually experiencing new mild symptoms like air hunger and nerve zaps that feel more like they are on my skin.

But overall I know I'm getting there!  I am still staying away from camomile tea bc when I tried it I actually felt a bit off for a few days after.  But I have my beloved coffee again, and plenty of chocolate.  Too much sugar doesn't feel good either.

You will get there GG!  I think your Drs are advising you well in that you should not dwell too much on what might be wrong, but focus on the positive and get back to the things in life that make you happy :-)  Good decision to not go back on those antibiotics unless absolutely necessary!!

GG,

I'm so sorry to hear you have this UTI that's stubborn. It's a good thing you have good doctors on the case and will figure it out. I'm sure this must be scary.  I know you'll pull through this like you always have and be better than ever. Please let us know what is going on as you proceed.  You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers.

Deanna,

So happy to hear how well you are doing. I can't wait for the day that I can post that I am doing better. Hoping that's going to be very soon as I'm unable to really hang on much longer. Although I have said that before and here I am still hanging on.

Sending healing hugs and warm love to all,

I don't wear underpants at all after I put on my long evening nightshirt and also don't wear them to bed either, only wear them during the day.  If I use too much laundry detergent it changes the pH down there and then I get UTI's or burning.  GG, did they scan your colon to see if you might have a tear in it?  Just a thought.

Has anyone had flu jab! Have booked mine for 3 weeks time hoping will be OK? Did rev up symptoms bit  last time so fingers crossed. GG, sorry but think your doctor is talking rubbish saying UTI’s down to your mental attitude. When going through the change had them fir couple years constantly, nothing to do with my mental attitude, women’s bodies change as we get older, dryness etc, not your mental attitude. Hope your urologist talks more sense. Are you OK Lady Den, just let us know you are coping xx

Leeann:  I had the flu shot about a week ago, and did fine!!! No flare up at all!!!  I think you will be fine.  My doctor said they are expecting g the flu season to be pretty bad this year in the States!  Hope you are doing okay.  The weather has cooled a bit here and it is so nice!!!  I am hoping this brings a lessening of symptoms!

Morning Hugs Yearlings ( dear friends)! I’ve been catching up on your posts.

GG I’m sorry to hear of your continued urinary issues. I hope they get things sorted out soon. For some reason I’m thinking at this point your body might be having “ antibiotic fatigue”. Too many too close together. Sending you hugs 🤗

Leann I’m here. Just in rough waters lately. I’m doing self care until it lets up again. I’ve been using Virgin River to keep me company. Hugs 🤗

Sandy good to see you still around being a warrior. You’re doing well in spite of it all. Keep it up! We are well on our way. Hugs 🤗

Helen I pray you are doing better these days. I miss you and thinking of you. Hugs 🤗

Lisa I’m in the choppy waters too. We have some major healing going on apparently. This feels bad but is a good thing for us to make it to shore. So one day at a time is the way to go for now. Soon we will be like Deanna with just annoying mild symptoms then they will fade too. I’m excited to see that for us all. Hugs 🤗

Live I’m sure you are so damn tired of this. I am too! But the only way out is through. Like an obstacle course. Every one is hard but we must keep going until we’re done. A huge lovely new life is waiting as our reward. I keep that in mind daily. That IS the goal awaiting us. Healing is not knowing how it is happening but to have confidence that it is. Hugs hugs hugs 🤗

Deanna it is awesome to hear how you’re enjoying your new phase of healing. Having anything mild in this is a blessing especially after waiting so long. Yay! We all are going to file in behind you to join you on that shore. So continue to lead the way for us! We see you as an example that it DOES get better. Hopefully the rest of your healing will happen quickly and you can close this chapter. Hugs 🤗

To whoever I missed please know I’m here with you and for you. I thank God for you all. Together we are surviving this! Together! Love and hugs 🤗

As for me….one day at a time I’m embracing my healing. Pushing when I can. Remembering that this is temporary. I AM healing that’s why I’m feeling it. You are too! Our brain is doing us a labor of love…there’s much pain for awhile but we’ll all have a beautiful brand new life at the end. Just like a woman travailing in birth. That baby is put in her arms and all she went through is worth it. Hang in there my friends.

❤️❤️❤️❤️

Glad you are OK Lady Den. Trying not to watch the news too much, relentless Royal coverage here stressing me out fir some reason, BBC showing little else , so hard to distract, be better after Monday hopefully. I loved Virgin River. Have you tried the Sandman, I binge watched it, very different .

Weather lot cooler here rain all day, wish sun would return apart from the heat.

Thanks Decateur, my husband nearly died after having flu, so think I’ll risk it. Did rev me up last year, but was feeling lot worse then. Hope you are all doing OK😊

Another vax question. Have any of you had booster Covid jab were you alright afterwards? Rolling them out again  here. Only reason thinking about it is if I ever recover, would like go on a cruise again. You have to have had 3 jabs. Had first 2 but not last booster. Got flu jab 8 th Oct, so def wouldn’t have them too close together. Really not sure, keep thinking will I actually be recovered by next year anyway, bit  of quandary!

Leann I haven’t seen Sandman. I’ll watch a trailer to see if I’m interested. Thanks. As far as booster I’m not sure. I’ve heard some do well with it and some it makes them very temporarily sick as a side effect. But nobody can say if you will have any issues with it or not. It’s one of those things that you just decide if you want to see….weighing the benefits versus the risks as a decision maker.

Love to all of you! Hope you have an awesome day! I’m getting butt kicked still. I know you all are in the thick of it too. Let’s hold each other up 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I wouldn’t have it if weren’t for fact if I ever want to go another cruise, assuming I do ever recover, you have to have 3 jabs. The first 2 were OK, but this one has been tweaked to work against omicron. Hope you soon improve, still suffering from “royal” fatigue over here.

Hello to all,

LadyDen,

I'm so sorry to hear you're getting your butt kicked too. But you're right we're all in this together, hoping to turn a corner at any minute. It just gets so difficult to hang on. Let's hope we both turn a corner extremely soon.  Or at least get a bit of a break from all these intense symptoms.

Sending warm love and healing hugs to all,
