I AM Rockfan, therefore I am... a rock fan: You knew I was going to do this...

Looks like this thread fizzled out.

Oh well, it was bound to happen.

It was fun while it lasted.

"Echoes"

Overhead the albatross

Hangs motionless upon the air

And deep beneath the rolling waves

In labyrinths of coral caves

An echo of a distant time

Comes willowing across the sand

And everything is green and submarine.

And no one called us to the land

And no one knows the where's or why's.

Something stirs and something tries

Starts to climb toward the light.

Strangers passing in the street

By chance two separate glances meet

And I am you and what I see is me.

And do I take you by the hand

And lead you through the land

And help me understand

The best I can.

And no one called us to the land

And no one crosses there alive.

No one speaks and no one tries

No one flies around the sun....

Almost everyday you fall

Upon my waking eyes,

Inviting and inciting me

To rise.

And through the window in the wall

Come streaming in on sunlight wings

A million bright ambassadors of morning.

And no one sings me lullabyes

And no one makes me close my eyes

So I throw the windows wide

And call to you across the sky....

Peace....

Never really liked these guys but my cousin took me to their concert on my 48th birthday and they put on the best stage show I've ever seen...https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=y0nNZ5wAWZE

My friend in the UK turned me on to these guys, apparently they're popular over there but I've never heard them in the States. Nothing deep but fun party band...https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SORRIftsmFE

I can't listen to music I love anymore because it is too upsetting to be reminded of being well enough to enjoy it but these were two of my favourites.

Patti Smith - Piss Factory

Pretty much anything by P.J. Harvey but here's one:

And this is my favorite album by her:

Don't listen to that if you are feeling jangly...

If you let it happen I think there will be some music that will give you comfort. I think it's a universal in humanity. Maybe it's not even music. One time I downloaded a bunch of rain, wind, and storm sound effects records, and it was just what I needed.

Yeah - I do that.

Just can't listen to stuff that I cared about in the past or anything beautiful.

Watched a documentary about Minimalism (Philip Glass, Terry Riley etc.) the other night - even that was to upsetting because I used to make music myself and I miss it too much.

Nice Lorze.

I finally found this single.  I wonder what happened to mine.  Sort of rare so must be worth something.  Used to blast it.  I blast it now and really enjoy it.  I must be getting better.

Nice, wbb. That's the real 80's music :)

Was quite smitten by one of the new Bob Mould tracks called "Voices in my head". You see him at 1:00 min mark seeing multiple versions of himself, shaking his head and taking some sort of pill in disgust. It reminded me of those panicky moments of old and saying "f**** this s****" in my head, and taking an ativan. But I thought of the overall message of the song being very uplifting. So sorry to hear that Grant Hart had passed away recently.

I spent years collecting music by cool women so here are some more.

Belly - Low Red Moon

I'd completely forgotten about this lot until today. Used to listen to them loads in the early 90's.

Carina Round - Monument

Curve - Chinese Burn

Blake Babies - Out There (live)

You're my hero today. I was a Blake Babies fan from their second show. Saw them 6 times. The best Boston band ever.

"The rock'n'roll spirit is not survival. Of course the people who play rock'n'roll should survive. But the essence of the rock'n'roll spirit to me, is that it's better to burn out really bright than to sort of decay off into infinity. Even though if you look at it in a mature way, you'll think, ‘well, yes... you should decay off into infinity, and keep going along.’ Rock'n'roll doesn't look that far ahead. Rock'n'roll is right now. What's happening right this second. Is it bright? Or is it dim because it's waiting for tomorrow - that's what people want to know [...]"

[Neil Young]

Sorry Neil. Sorry Rockfan. Guess I’m gonna decay off into infinity on this thread.
