Back to tapering after 5 day hold...did improve enough to function the past couple days. Nice to be below .5

I see a lot who jump at the .5 point...I'd love too...but I've always been super sensitive to meds, avoided them for years and obviously wish I had avoided diazepam...but I think I should head down a little lower first?

That .5 is an awesome milestone.  Congrats!  One of these days I'm going to get there too  :)

GeorgeVI and laineyk, thanks for the encouragement!

You will both get there, and you will live to see the day, laineyk, pray and fight to encourage your own self. I have much more time with symptoms than without, mild or strong, not fun but fighting to keep the right perspective.

rough, my symptoms seem to be unrelenting now....I can't even imagine what this will be like once off..I KNOW I will have acute because I feel that way now

All I do is PRAY and ask God for His help

This is the worse feeling anyone could ever imagine    I am clinging to life these days

10 days off here, feeling better overall. I am now paying the ferryman as someone put it. Acute is here now but it could be MUCH worse as when I jumped at .75 now that was hell. Acute lasts 30-45 days according to most, but after 6 weeks, we feel better! Hang in there folks, you guys/gals are SOOOOOO close to being off and healing after that. GOd Bless us all  :smitten:

Good for you Beat...as I get closer I'm wondering what acute will be like, but imagine it will be more of the same.

Lain...when it feels bad it feels like it will never stop...then it does. I did my longest hold, 5 days, when reached .5 as it was pretty intense...the 4th and 5th day were Windows so on I go. You are wise to not jump as soon this time. :)

I found this to be true for me, things were leveling out at six weeks. I still had a lot of sleeping problems but that was due more to new mattress incompatibilities. Been sleeping better this past week and generally better overall at nine weeks out.

Edzo, you jumped are kicking ass ! That's great !

I haven't checked the thread in awhile. Once my brain allowed me to exist for some hours without

thinking constantly about Benzos/my taper, I had to take a break from it all.

I'm at 1.5mg per day, about ready to cut to 1mg. At this point, if I hold too long, I feel worse.

I'll jump at .5 or maybe .25mg, we'll see.

I can power through the symptoms at this point (thank you, all my BenzoBuds!).

Most days now I feel like I can eat nails and floss with barbed wire.

I was worried about PTSD for awhile after this, but not anymore. Gotta sink our teeth

back into life and move on.

Lainey , hang in there ! I tapered from 36mg Valium to 20 mg, and had a rough time at that spot; I felt like giving up, like I wan't going

to make it. The human brain is amazing, in that is has the ability to heal itself over time. You MUST have faith in

your brain, that it can and will heal, and your suffering will be replaced with optimism and laughter and plans for the future.

I did not believe I could ever feel these things again, I felt so bad. Now I am at 1.5mg per day, and much of my confidence

has returned. I can drive places, go into stores, etc, and not think much about my taper.

Eat healthy, get as much sleep as you can, and let time pass !

You will be OK, I promise !

This is inspiring for me today: I am right below 2, had it pretty smooth for a while, but now am suffering as I was at the beginning. It is so hard to wake up to the same mountain of agony over and over again....I cut by 10% over the last month and I guess that was just too much. But it is so nice to say I am under 2

Kasey, thank you for your support !

Hi! I am at 2.5 and having some moderate symptoms. I have been tapering for almost 3 years, longer than I took the .25mg of Xanax for sleep. I am so ready to be finished. Right now I am having severe neck pain, back pain, knee pain, and not sleeping much. I have been functional for most of my taper. I have held for long periods of time, but never updosed. I'm glad to see this support group. Prayers and blessings to all who are trying be free of benzos.

But I suspect u know that...

I hope your current sx ease soon...

Basicly the same as about 4days into a large dose opiate CT, with the added SX of Benzo WD...

So, feavers shakes cramps headaches. GI hell, fatigue insomnia...

Then the insane anxiety depression DR panic etc... I dont normally get these mental SX...

Updosing, or rescue dosing work well for me... They start to work within the hour, and back to base in 6-8hrs. But obviously they slow my taper some over time...

But remember im fighting more than just benzo issues.. And only just (yesterday) found a specialist that understands and has a plan. So still processing all this...

But crashing means just that... in bed, basicly non functional, mental and physically...

Hi there,

I am doing cut and hold and I am down to 1.05 mg Valium daily. I dose once a day in the evening.

I have most recently been cutting .02 every three or four weeks. I have only minimal symptoms and I believe it is because I am going so slow with my taper and doing holds in between.

I'd like to speed it up just a tiny bit, make the same .02 cut but do it about every two weeks according to my  Wdsx.

Or I'd Ike to make the cuts a tad bigger. Instead of.02, I 'd cut .03 or .04 and hold for about

three weeks.

Do you think I would be pushing it too fast?

Thanks for opinions and suggestions.

The great news is that you are having minimum wdsx symptoms on your current c/h schedule. & You also are quite low on you over all dosage.  that's fantastic!!

If you truly want to increase your tapering -c/h i would be inclined to maintain the .02mg reductions every 3 to 2 weeks and see how that is tolerated. If you do well with that, then you can shorten that a bit more.... until you reach a stage where the symptoms are beyond what you want deal with.  :smitten:
