Finally broke the 4 day bad spell, slept about 7hr last night, broken sleep though, woke up every hr or two. I do think exercise helped to some degree, I ran 30 min yesterday despite being tired due to sleep deprivation.

Kelvin

Good for you Kelvin. The exercise does help if you can do it and it does not have to be intense exercise. If fact, intense could make things worse. I am doing mild to moderate and it is helping me a lot. Sometimes, I do not feel like doing it but I power through anyway bc of the sleep benefit I am getting from it.

I personally did not get to bed until about 3AM last night but I did not awake until 11AM, so 8 hours for me.  ;)

Last night I slept six hours with two wake ups.  What happened yesterday that possibly brought such good sleep?

I didn't do a 30 minute walk nor did I do my PT exercises for my knee.

Both are necessary, but I'm going to take another day off today and see what happens tonight.

applause.gifGood to hear this nightengale. I know you struggle with sleep.

Thanks antibenzo, I've been an avid exerciser for years, so don't plan on stopping. I do want to get my sleep back after soon three years off, plus the 9 months of tapering, so will see how it goes again tonight without any exercise today.  I've not been a runner for maybe 15 years, so what I do is low key.

Thanks for allowing me to vent. Last night I was satisfied with

my sleep. 12 midnight to 6 38 am. And when I

awoke in middle of the night I was able to fall

back to sleep,  plus I felt some sleepiness,

not cortisol surges. seroquel taken at 11 pm.

Off benzo about 50 days. But I can still

crave or look for the drug during the day.

Yesterday had to take tiny piece of buspar

to get through.

2 nights ago sleep was not that good.

I had nervous cough while sleeping (ugh)

then also bad dreams. Hoping a lot my anxiety

heals.

Last night it was back to par for the course. Slept an hour, woke up and was awake a few hours before I went back to sleep for another hour.

I think I maybe slept one more hour after that after doing some deep breathing exercises.

Got up and walked for 35 mins, then did some PT on my knees.

A little spacey this morning.

HM. that is great you slept and even went back to sleep after you woke up. That's always a big plus. Fifty days benzo free is a great accomplishment!

Anxiety healed for me. I don't have it much anymore. If I do, it goes away quickly.

Stay strong.

Hi all,

Lots of good news from most of you! That's great.

Let's hope this is going to continue.

My sleep is more or less the same as it was the last couple of weeks. I do tend to wake up bit earlier, but do fall alsleep again.

I love my bike rides. I did some 700 km ( 370 miles) in the last 2,5 months. The muscles in my upper legs have become quite a bit bigger and stronger. Walking is still painful and no fun.

Sleep tight!

Hello people. Nice to hear from you.

Yesterday I tried to set up a good night

of sleep but it was so so at best.

Stayed busy yesterday with church

meeting, church, a walk, reading, puzzles.

Med at 10 40 pm. Bed at midnight.

But slept 12 am to 5 22 am. I think.

Sleep was light, with weird dreams.

Not restful. Did not feel like I slept.

Also cortisol type feelings when

I woke. Felt some cortisol surges

while sleeping. Disappointed.

I hope tonight is better. See I’m

healing from many things.

The day anxiety, the cough,

hx insomnia, have had night

terrors. And they are all tied together.

Took no anxiety med yesterday/ buspar.

So that is good. I don’t like that stuff.

Want to taper seroquel but just not

ready. Have sweet dreams all !

Hi HM, you did have a good day, yesterday. Keeping busy works so very well.

The sleep thing is so stressful.  I hope you have a better night.  Healing does happen, in its own mysterious way.

Last night I could not go to sleep. That doesn't happen very often, thankfully.

Stay strong,

NG

Last 4 nights were 7-8-5-7hr sleep. I had streak of 6-7 hr sleep after acute, lasted for a month, and then insomnia came at about two-months-off Mark, now I expect this up and down recovery in the future.

I’ve been on a streak averaging 6-7 hours per night. I’m shocked, relieved, elated, apprehensive, etc. Maybe it’s the beginning of the end???

Wow, great news. Fingers crossed for you. Nothing feels better than a good night of restful, restorative sleep.  :)

Thanks, AntiB and NG. The window is closing slightly. I’ve gotten 5-6 hours the last few days with more adrenaline and fatigue upon waking. Tinnitus is louder, and the sick feeling is a little stronger. But that week-long window really helped. It put these symptoms in perspective as not who I am, but something that is on me and something that will leave. Although I just woke up and I feel the symptoms, the window allowed me to see them for what they are. I don’t know if I’m making much sense. Anyway, hope you all are getting some relief.

DBM your post made perfect sense. Maybe not to the outside world, but definitely to the benzo world.  I am glad you had a window to experience what I call "decadence."  Hang in there!

I slept maybe 4.5-5 hours last night. I stopped looking at the clock, but did initially sleep for at least three hours to begin with. That's been a rarity for lots of months.  I was then awake for a few hours, so finally listened to a sleep hypnosis video. I go through a few before one finally puts me to sleep, then save it to favorites hoping it will keep working. Because I am so sleep deprived, I feel groggy and out of it. I noticed I feel worse after a fairly decent night of sleep. Not sure why, but that's how it is for me.

I've not gotten up and walked for at least three mornings, because I have managed to go back to sleep.  I know I need the exercise.

My left knee/leg is getting stiff again, since my PT ended a week ago. I've been doing the PT on my own, every other day as the therapist suggested, so I'm going to get back to every day. I have a therapist coming tomorrow to set up therapy on my right wrist for quervains tenosynovitis. I've had two shots in it and gotten relief, but now the hand specialist wants to do surgery. That is not an option right now. My two grown children are back at work and it would be difficult for them to take time off to drive me to the surgical center.

Oh well, life keeps moving on.

Hi everyone,

Didn't post last week, as there was nothing new to tell.

I see you're all still having sleep issues. Sorry to see that. I hope you're all going to get better sleep soon.

My ankle and rib are getting less painful, but still aren't quite ok. As with all healing, it takes time.

Still going for a bike ride every day, increasing speed and length of the trips. Walking is getting better to do as well.

My sleep is changing: I wake up more often and earlier than has been the case for quite some time. I am starting to have more pain again during the last hours of the night. Maybe I 've been overdoing the exercising a bit.

I hope everyone has a better night .

Hi Trochsetter, good to see you back.  I was happy to hear your back and ankle continue to feel better. That's a plus!

You could try backing off of the exercise somewhat.  If your sleep does not improve, then you can keep on doing what you have been doing.

I've backed off on my exercises with mixed results.  At least twice in the last week, I've fallen back to sleep in the morning when I am typically walking or doing physical therapy.  I am always happy to get more sleep, even at the expense of exercise. Yesterday and today, it was back to walking and PT.

Hi nightengale,

So glad your sleep is slowly getting better!

You're right about backing off of the exercises a little for a while. I was already thinking about doing that.

The lovely warm and dry summer weather has changed overnight: we've had rain last night, for the first time in quite a while. More wind and less warmth, so the weather is starting to become more autumnal. So no more biking in shorts and T-shirts...

Hope you slept well. Enjoy your day!  :)

Hi everyone. I spent 10 minutes typing, then the screen fluttered, and everything was gone.

Sleep does get the best of so many of us. I wish there was a quick solution for our insomnia. Actually there was, which is why we are all here, now.

I remember thinking that I would recover in 3-6 months after I finished my taper. I had read a few testimonies on here of those who did recover that quickly. I am now heading toward three years off and insomnia is still hanging around.

I walk and look so much older than when I began this journey to be free of benzos. Of course I am three years older, but what I see is beyond that.

The last two days we had a lot going on, so perhaps that helps me sleep better. On Friday I felt so exhausted, I just wanted the evening to go by quickly so I could go to bed and sleep.  Life goes by in a blink, so I would rather not wish that.

TS, our weather is also becoming more autumnal. For the first time that I can remember, I am ready for summer to be over with. Away goes the shorts and sleeveless tops.

pinkyandthebrain, I know how it is to getup 5-6 times each night. It's a pain.

Hang in there.

Hi nightengale,

I hope you slept better the last couple of nights. You really deserve it.

I got hit by the flu or a very bad cold last week. It's now day 6 and still feeling sick. Weak, night fevers, muscle pain, at times almost coughing my lungs out. Congested nose. Overall misery.

Yesterday I felt a bit "better", so went outside for a while, as the weather was quite nice again.

This morning I had planned to get some groceries,  but could barely stand on my feet.

So have to take it easy for now.

Wishing you ( and of course all of the other poor sleepers) better nights and great days.

Stay safe.

Hi TS, I am sorry you are so very sick.  Please consider seeing the doctor if you can manage to get there.

Going outside sounds lovely.

Hopefully someone can get your groceries for you, so you can be at home to recover.

I am still sleeping better. Thanks for asking!

Three days ago, I applied a liquid chemotherapy to my scalp and face. It is a two day regime, so I decided I could handle that, but kept putting it off until I was down to the last two days before the stuff expired.  The dermatologist gave me a free sample so I didn't have to pay the $400 for the prescription, which was wonderful. Anyway, day one was okay. I could feel it, but day two was quite painful. I took some Tylenol, which did help a little and slept some. Hopefully tonight will be less pain.

I hope you will see the doctor, TS.

Hi Nightengale,

Thanks for your concern.

I was pleased to see the dermatologist being so kind to you.  Saved you a lot of money that way. I hope the treatment helps.

So glad you're sleeping better!

My sleep isn't too bad, even while having this flu, I still get some 6 or 7 hours. I do have more vivid dreams at the moment.

This morning I didn't feel very well. This afternoon things thankfully improved again. My cleaning woman is coming tomorrow,  she prepared 5 hamburgers and did a few groceries. I'll give it another day or two and then decide wether I 'll see a doctor or not. I feel as if the worst is over, though. Let's hope so...

Hopefully you'll have a nice day!

TS, please keep getting better. Eating and sleeping is the best medicine when we are sick.  Your cleaning lady sounds like a gem bringing you some burgers and more!

Feel better,

NG
