Good day TS, it is quite nice here, so hopefully the blue, sunny skies have made it across the great ocean span.

I am sorry to hear about your pain that brings on tossing and turning. It is so frustrating. Hopefully the exercise will help! My thoughts are that it really can't hurt.

Even if I hurt after I finish walking, mentally I feel better.

That's good news you have an appointment with the orthopedic specialist.  You will be going in, while I am going under the  knife. We can compare notes.

PT is also good. You are going in the right direction.

Let's don't talk about my sleep last night. Tonight is a new night.

Hi group,

I hope you all had a better sleep last night.

Rodolfo,  that's absolutely great! Congrats!

My sleep was worse again: muscle/joint pain starts to wake me up again around 5.30. I do go back to sleep, but ever so lightly. This time it’s my right hip giving me pain.

Nightengale,  I 'm glad you had nice weather.  Makes life a bit more pleasant, doesn't it? Hope you slept better last night. Keep hoping for improvement.

Have a nice weekend everyone on here!

TS, The muscle and joint pain does cause problems with sleep.  Sorry about the right hip pain.  I hope you slept better tonight. Hope the weather stays nice there.

I slept for three hours straight, then awoke because the dog had thrown up. I never slept after that, but the dog was fine today.

Today was a lovely day, but tomorrow, snow is to return. The snow from the blizzard last weekend still has not all melted away.

I just checked the weather report and it says we may get 4-12 inches. Good grief.

On that note, I shall sign off and hope for more sleep tonight and less snow than the prediction calls for.

The light at the end of the tunnel.

Last night I slept for a good 6.5 hours.  it was amazing! A real gift after coming down off of four days of Tramadol, no sleep three nights ago, then three the night before. The pain killer didn't do much for the knee pain, let me sleep okay the first night, less the second and poof. I decided not to take anymore after the doctor called in a new prescription. Not sure what I am going to take after my knee replacement surgery.  I should put that out on here before I go under the knife.

It is a lovely spring morning, with snow on the way.  I'm doing our taxes today.

I wish you all good sleep and no pain, especially TS, who deserves this and more.

Hello nightengale,

Wow, I 'm so happy for you! A 6,5 hours sleep is fantastic! You deserve this so much!

Enjoy your Sunday morning: the first one this Spring.  Try to cancel the predicted snow...nobody's in the mood for that! Good luck with your taxes. Hope uncle Sam is kind on you this year...

My sleep was a lot better last night. Same as yours: some 6,5 to 7 hours. Not too much pain today. I took 2 short walks, after not walking for 2 days. No bike ride today, because of the cold wind. Milder Spring weather is on the way !

Having my eyes examined next Wednesday. Vision is really blurred.

Stay okay !

Hi TS, how's it going? I hope your pain is less and sleep is better.

My surgery is not until April 2, though last week I thought it was this Friday.  I was happy to have another week to prepare.

I've been upping my protein intake and eating more broccoli. LOL The video the doctor has for me to watch has so many great suggestions, such as more protein and fresh fruits and vegies. Hopefully it all goes well.

The tramadol I took did a number on my sleep. Uff

After the 2nd night I stopped sleeping, yet in the morning all I wanted to do was sleep. After four days,  the 16 pills were gone. The surgeon prescribed another 30 pills, but I've not taken any. The pain was never controlled and I lost the ability to feel sleepy. It is beginning to come back, as the last two nights I slept 3 plus hours.

I'm hopeful the ice machine will give me enough pain relief that I won't need to take any pain meds.  All I can do is give it a try.

Hello Nightengale,

Okay, so one more week of waiting and preparing for your surgery. Hope all goes well.

More veggies and protein are always good for us. Too much  animal protein isn't, though. Nowadays they want patients to be in as good a shape as possible before going under the knife. This way recovery after the procedure is quicker and shorter.

Enjoy your food! Lol.

I went to see the eye doctor yesterday: no serious stuff, but lots of floaters in all shapes and sizes in my right eye especially. Quite bothersome. Plus cataract. The joy of getting older...

My pain is worse again. Seeing the orthopedic for that next Tuesday. My back and left leg have a mind of their own.  Wheelchair, here I come!

Got a new bed today: no idea what tonight will bring.

Enjoy your day.

Hi TS, the floaters are irritating. I had some that kept going across my line of sight, but I can no longer see them.  Hopefully yours drift away into a secluded spot.

Ahh the cataracts. We seem to all get them as the years add up.  My eyes are clear so far, but each year I go in, I am waiting for him to say. "they're here!" The surgery isn't too bad, as I was with my mother when she had one done. She wore  a cover over that eye, so she didn't scratch or rub it.  I wish there was a way we could all avoid this.

I hope the orthopedic doctor can figure out your back and left leg pain.  Hopefully the wheelchair is still far into the future in a galaxy far, far away. :)

My brain won't settle on getting into a wheelchair cart at Costco or King Soopers, though at one point, yesterday, my right leg almost collapsed as I walked through the grocery store.

Speaking of the grocery store, you perhaps have heard of the mass shooting in Boulder, Colorado, which is 30 minutes drive from me. The shooter was from the suburb I live in.  We are all shocked and saddened by this event. The incidents of these events are for some unknown reason, quite high in our state.  It happens far too often.  When I went to the KIng Soopers, close to me, the store was mostly empty and the workers subdued. I have two favorite clerks, so had written a caring thank you note to both and then purchased two Starbucks gift cards to add to the notes.  There is a Starbucks right in the store. They both thanked me and seemed a little uplifted.

Take care,

NG

TS, I do eat mostly fish and chicken protein, which I love, plus broccoli and everything out of our summer garden!

I hope your leg and back pain are better today and you sleep well tonight.

I think it would help a lot of us (especially for moral support) if we knew:

1. Your age.

2. How long you took a benzo or Z-Drug

3. How long you took to taper off it.

4. How long you have been off.

5. How long before sleep quality started being a 5 and above.

I'll start with myself:

1. 42

2. 1 month (including 2 week "taper" which was basically taking 1/3rd of what I was using for 2 weeks, and then C/T)

4. 5 months 2 days ago

5. Right now, using nothing, my sleep quality is atrocious (zero sleep). But I've had a few nights of using nothing and still getting over 5, so it's strange what's happening. I am managing with Mirtazapine (a low 3.6mg) and THC (around 25mg). When I use those 2 (not at the same time), I usually get sleep from a 7 to a 9 in quality.

Hello nightengale,

Hope you're doing okay today.

Saw the orthopedic dr.  this morning: had an X-ray taken of my left hip. A bit of wear, no cause for action. Pain is caused by stiff tendons and muscles.

Worked in the garden yesterday for more than an hour: went really well. Not much pain today!

Went for a bike ride this afternoon ( lovely warm Spring weather). Enjoyed it a lot! Had a delicious ice cream.

How's your sleep this week? And body stiffness?

Hope all goes well this coming Friday!

Stay safe.

Congratulations, Rodolfo! This is always such great news. You so deserve this sleep recovery!

TS, it sounds like your orthopedic appointment went well with the good news concerning your hip! The stiffness is stressful, but hopefully that will go away.

Wow, your garden work and bike ride sounded like a breath of fresh air. Even better yet, your pain was not so bad.

Ummm...the ice cream treat sounds lovely on such a beautiful day.

My sleep is sparse. I plan on catching up after the surgery is over with. My body is still quite stiff. I am hopeful it gets better after my knees are fixed.

Take care,

NG

Hi! My surgery went well on Friday. Each day is better and better, so I am pleased.

Last night I slept between 8-9 hours. My gosh, talk about being happy.

I am on oxycodone, which no doubt helps.

Today I have started start slowly tapering down on that medication an am doing quite okay.

I'll write more as I progress.

TS, I hope you are doing well. Keep in touch.

Rodolpho, I hope your sleep comes back tonight!

Hi nightengale,

That's wonderful news! I 'm so glad the surgery went well and you're feeling fine!

The remarkable sleep you had, is an Easter bonus.

You'll be getting stronger everyday.

I'm doing okay. Went to see a podo / manual therapist last Friday. He performed all sorts of  checks and manouvres. I had quite a bit of pain afterwards. The pain was gone that evening. Walking feels different now. Better, I  think. Picking up my new orthopedic inlays next Friday. Doing excersises for my achilles heels and upper back.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. You'll be doing walks again in no time !

Bye for now.

Ps. Last week we had 3 warm days with lots of sunshine. Today we had snow and hail, barely above freezing...

Hi,

Last night was a 5. Soar throat.

The night before that was a 9. Slept like a log ! Not even a bathroom visite.

The two nights before that were a 5 or 6.

Hoping you all slept well!
