Ha, not so sure about that  :)

The "roll-up" is still on as I sit here sipping on a hot medium trying to get some motivation after a 60hr work week. Get'n too old for this; and it's cutting into my car hobby time

Hope everyone is doing good...........eh.

babla, take care of that cold

DING DING DING.........and we have a roll up winner! Just a coffee, but it's better than a kick in azz with a frozen boot, as my dad always said.

Maybe my lucky day as I never win anything. Last time I remember winning something was 10 bucks in a grade 7 chess tournament.........and a fair amount of h2o has passed beneath the bridge since then  ;)

Yoicks, Navita-a 60 hour work week  :P! I think you deserve at least an XL coffee after that, although at least you won a freebie  ;D, so congrats. And yes, better than a slap in the face from a beaver tail, to keep things Canuck-y! You'll have to tell us a bit about your car hobby i.e. type(s) you have and/or are interested in, if you go to car shows and all that sort of thing.

What with car safety stuff these days, it seems like the days of the ol' 'beaters' are pretty much over. Although, I did drive a vehicle for the past couple of years that sort of started to fall apart pretty quickly all at once; mechanically it was actually safe and sound, but this Ontario salt really got to it. You know you need new wheels when you start parking in the middle of public lots even when you're visiting someone, just so the presence of your poor vehicle doesn't bring down the property values  :-[!

It's also stressful trying to drive extremely discreetly, so as not to draw attention :P to you and your ride. Thank goodness I was able to find an excellent used vehicle; I was even able to sell my old one to some high school kid who wanted to do some body work (made sure to show him every little hole and rust spot, but as I mentioned, the engine was pretty decent). I guess I'd probably have won an 'ugly car'  ::)  contest; must make car buffs shudder to think!!

Whatever the case, I think it's great to have an intense interest or even passion, in something-especially when we're battling the benzo sxs. I've always devoured books like candy, and cat/dog rescue and advocating spay/neuter is also really important to me, as well as dabbling in various eclectic sports. I worry that I may win the world championship in benzo w/d sweats this year, which is NOT a  title to which I aspire-ugh  :(!

Still hoping some more Canucks will emerge from hibernation, and help to keep us 'North of 49er's' going. Feeling fabulous is definitely NOT a prerequisite for posting; I feel pretty bleak on a very regular basis, but if getting free of benzos is a long term project (for me, anyway), I'm grabbing all the good gusto I can get along the way. "Feel the fear [ETC.], and do it anyway," right??!!

Well lets see, without getting too deep into details. I have been a car enthusiast since I was knee high to my older brother, who got me hooked in the first place. North American classic muscle cars is what has always been my passion. I knew I was hooked the day he (my brother) came home with a mint 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner. I think I was more excited than him! It was only 2-3 yrs old and was in pristine condition as one would expect. Bright yellow with white interior, automatic and a 383 Magnum. I was only 10-11 yrs old at the time and knew that summer night I was hooked.

Anyway, growing up I got into advanced auto classes in high school. There was a program at the time that would allow you time off an apprenticeship if you passed these classes, which I managed to do. Each class (gr. 11 and 12) was worth 2 credits. With that coming out of high school I guess the seeds were planted.

Over the years I've owned many cars, a  Chevelle Malibu was one of my first, then a '70 Nova. Later on I owned a 1969 396 SS Camaro, a '67 440 Dart and a few others in between. I presently have 2, a '71 GS Buick and a '87 Buick Regal Turbo T Ltd. (same car as the Grand National if you recall them) not your classic muscle car but, these cars were extremely quick and ahead of their time as far a technology goes. Also, there were ONLY 1035 of these made in '87. For comparison hey made over 20,000 Grand Nationals in '87

Car shows, been to lots over the years. Not so much any more, little older now and would rather lay low but do enjoy the odd cruse night gathering. Well enough of my babble. I agree it's good to have a hobby of some sort to get your mind off the sxs. What sort of sports do you delve into bablatrice?

Thought I'd better check back into Canuckland to see how things are going...interesting reading on a few subjects (btw, I won a coffee on the w'end... but where's my CAR >:(?). I'm on more valium than Ativan on my c/o now, and am feeling like a wet noodle, as in no giddy up and go; problematic for a horse-y type, ee.

I've heard that valium tends not to be a 'happy dance' benzo (aren't they all just UGH after a while?), and it's a bit more sedating. But since I had v. unpleasant sxs on my first c/o attempt with not enough valium, I would definitely prefer this duh feeling to pain etc.

And to my surprise, I just had a burst of energy, and am now NON-madly multi-tasking (laundry, vacuuming, cooking, horse tack cleaning...), so thought I'd better do a quick post. Gotta seize the moment, yeah?

As for interests, guess it's no secret I'm an avid rider...or at least riding an hour for every many hours!! I spend doing chores, argh. I'd rather have a nice truck and horse trailer (I have an okay combo) than a classic car, but I do appreciate the sort of ride Navita mentioned above.

Before I got my first gas  :-[guzzling Chevy Sierra Heavy Half with 455? hp and dual exhaust (second hand) in the late 90's, I had a real classic...a used Hyundi PONY. EEK. That was one lousy car! I also had a VW Golf (expensive parts!), before I got smart and went with a Ford Escort.

I also had an 80's Regal Classic around the millennium, and let's just say it was a far cry from Navita's beautiful/powerful beast. Working as an ink jockey/journalist, I've covered the odd classic car show...I do appreciate the well, classic! lines of many of the 70's cars. Wish I'd been driving back then, but they wouldn't have been classic yet, huh?!

If I can't hitch a ride with Navita 8), I'll just have to stick to horses...I also like to do some mountain and road biking, along with skiing (all types!), but for now the c/o and then taper ahead is taking up most of my usual enthusiasm for dashing around.

So what has anyone else won from TH, or what do other people do for distraction and fun when not being knocked around too much with sxs and all that?

Hi fellow Canucksters  8). I've been dragging my butt through work for the past week, hence no patriotic posts for a few days. The odd sunny and warmish day has raised my spirits, but the recent gloom and rain definitely doesn't make the benzo affected brain and body "feel like dancin'"  ::). But more light and rising temps are inevitable, so let's hope we will all benefit from a release from the [often] uninspiring bonds of winter.

I'm finally becoming resigned to the fact that a TH car is once again not in the cards (cups?!) for me this year, so will continue to zip around in my modest transportation. Navita, you sound as if you have some very nice vehicles to putter with, and enjoy driving; like Allie, I appreciate vintage wheels, but no cruise night material in my driveway!

As for avocations and diversions, I've played a real variety of team and individual sports over the years i.e. volleyball/basketball/hockey/skiing/touch football/kayaking/javelin etc., plus my first really intense passion of fastball (father was a Little League coach, and started me off with his boy's teams). I can also throw a football spiral well enough to impress a cousin who played in the CFL for a few years-HA!

All this doesn't mean I'm an incredible jock; my relatively small stature-for instance-forced me to switch from pitching FASTball, to first base (lefty!), and I was more often the captain of a team (very!! seldom any kind of 'star'). But as one of my compact wrestling/football/lifeguard jock boyfriends in high school used to say, "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog!"

Dunno who first came up with that mantra, but it does ring true; I suppose I'm a 'Jack Russell,' in that case?! Well, stuff to do and all that, so I'd better trot off on my lanky legs (it's my darn torso that's short!) and get to gittin'. I have some ideas for livening up our somewhat sedate Canuck group, but will leave that for another day-and give any people who've posted or are thinking about it (hint, hint  ;D) a chance to speak their piece . Keep on Canuckin'!!

Where are all the Canucks?!?!?

Timmie's was a bust for me this year.....rolled up a couple of coffees and a donut. Nothing to write home about.

I'm completely over winter. February was too brutally cold to be outside and March has proven to be a little milder but lacking sunshine. In any case, summer is inevitable so I'm holding on for another few weeks.

My taper is wearing me out....I've been at this for almost 15 months. I'm near the end, and I'm nervous. The fear of the unknown and all that.

Hope everyone finds a little peace today  :smitten:

Hey all Maple Leafers-not the team, just us citizens. I'm a BB newbie, and this is my first real post, so maybe Kiddo and bab will send me some digital maple syrup, eh? It's cool to see this support group for us Canucks. I ski raced in my teens (go super slalom), and still snowboard and even I'm ready to hit the beach by now. Won some Timmies donuts and coffee, but otherwise nuttin'this year. Anyway, I'm on board and will stop by regularly. Oh yeah, and I'm a prairie boy. So, who else is out there?

Welcome to our virtual BB Canuckland, Odinski .Drop in anytime, eh?  And hey Kiddo, hope you're feeling some better by the time you read this. More spring like weather will be here SOON, not to worry. And I'm not anywhere near as far as you in getting off this stuff; you've done sooo much of the 'heavy lifting' already  !! Maybe try not to think too much about the 'finish line'-just keep on keeping on, 'cuz you're an inspiration. Peace to you, too.

It's been nice to see some new 'buddies' drop by since Kiddo's kick-off for this group (and my tireless/some  ::)?!) cheerleading along the way; where have some of the first posters disappeared to, I wonder? Not still stuck in a snow bank, I trust?? We don't seem to have morphed into a [Canuck] exercise + w/d support + TH win?! themed stampede of a thread, so-what DO we have in common besides the obvious  ::) that will keep us going?

Anyone for brainstorming (oops, maybe a poor choice of words), but are we all just going to swell the numbers of other less Canajun support groups, or remain 'Mute Miltons'? We did get a bit of a list of national resources, thanks to Kiddo [again], but perhaps we need to get some sort of exciting game or lottery going. Something a bit more benzocentric, yet appealing, as opposed to TH. The logistics of any venture may be challenging-anyone got any contacts with Dragon's Den staff?

Distraction is supposed to be one of the keys to surviving this whole brain/body craziness and discomfort/pain, so I'm gonna get on it. Who knows where we'll end up? I may sound like a total nutbar, but hey, travelling through benzo land so far, I've learned that I just want to get through it all-and to heck with worrying about trying to sound all civilized and proper (as long as no one is hurt or offended, since we do tend to be pretty vulnerable).

Hope everyone has a good start to their week, and is all prepped for the Big Bunny-along with the religious inferences for those inclined, whom I respectfully acknowledge.

Thanks for this.

Reason for asking is wife had a visit with her pdoc today and I told her to ask him to add 2mg pills in with her script. He told her the 2mg V wasn't available. I was very surprised. I figured I better make 100% sure they are befor I challenge him. The 2's would make dry cutting a lot easier.

Nice to 'see' ya, Navita-and thanks for chiming in with the info re: 2 mg. Valium pills being available in Canada . (I'm going to be needing some of those suckers one of these days, so good to know.) It's really heartening to have our Ca-na-da support group function as a resource and/or venue for disseminating some necessary information. I'm sure we've ALL  ??? been frustrated by non-existent or inaccurate stuff with regard to benzos.

Coincidentally, I was at the doc's on Thursday (accompanied by my clarifier/interpreter ::) husband) to re-up on valium. My GP is a smart and compassionate guy, and is allowing me to 'invent' my version of the Ashton protocol as I go along. He is open minded and asks good questions, but still-despite my attempts to explain the vast difference in half life between Ativan and valium-doesn't seem to believe there IS a difference  :o. Argly bargly!!!!

Because I don't want to be trotting in to the clinic too often, and also paying excessive dispensing fees, nice-but-bit-benzo-clueless doc was nice enough to give me a big whack of pills. When the pharmacist was carting out my gallon harhar jar of valium, I was so rattled by the experience of having to try to explain the whole Ashton thing again that I felt compelled to mention I am on the verge of a benzo taper. (As opposed to being a valium dealer, or simply a very sedated individual.) Arghh.

When will I learn to practice that "Never complain, never EXPLAIN" philosophy??!! Anyhow, hope everyone has a good weekend .

You're welcome. He should have known, but then I guess there are a few things pdoc's don't know about a lot of things.  ::)

It's just wonderful that you're supporting your wife through this, it truly makes all the difference in the world.

Chinook  :)

PS I finally won a donut! Suffice to say I spent a lot of money winning that donut.

Have you seen the SRT Hellcat Challenger? OMGosh! I want one.

Chinook, I think what really frustrates me is the fact that he stated it with such confidence. I do don't know maybe it was discontinued at one point and he thought it still is. Thank you for the kind words.

Hellcat? Yes, I have seen it and I can't believe you brought that up. The new challenger design is based on the'70 model and THAT very car is my ALL TIME  favorite muscle car. I been hooked on that body style since I went to the local Roxy theatre and seen Vanishing Point in 1971 (dating myself here as I was 9) with Barry Newman. Unfortunately in my adult years I have never been able to afford a '70 and it just keeps getting further out of reach money wise.

As for the Hellcat, oh ya I've seriously thought about liquidating my cars and going for one. Turn key, drive to drag strip and run a 11 flat on a drag radial then drive home with all the creature comforts. And they've done a nice job on the styling I think. I'm a GM muscle car guy mostly, but not big at all on the new Camaro.

I seen one being shipped out last week on a car hauler. Looked to be painted in that infamous "sublime" green from the early 70's

You too huh? I think my rm has been having similar thoughts of liquidation, lol. I say go for it but so far we haven't seen one. We live in a small town in southern Alberta and the Dodge dealer has a Scat Pack, that's pretty nice too.

Do you still race? My rm and his friend built a 454 powered very heavily modified '79 Bel Air, it runs 11.20's at sea level. They race Pro ET and big buck shootouts.

I feel bad because I haven't been able to get out to the races due to my extreme hyperacusis from withdrawal, but I think this summer we'll for sure go to Mission, B.C. I love the jet cars! They sure put on a good show.

I haven't seen Vanishing Point but I've heard it's a classic. I'm a big fan of Shirley Muldowney and liked Heart Like a Wheel a lot, have you seen it? One of my biggest thrills was getting to meet her when she was up here at Race City in the early 90s! I sure admire her spirit.

Well Navita I hope you and your family have a Happy Easter. I'm off to turn in my winning donut!

Yes, still race. I have a GS Buick that runs 11.30's and that's as far as I'll go with it, as I don't want to install a roll cage. So I only TT it, no bracket racing anymore for me. Here if you run under the 11.50 on a TT day they let it slide to a degree.

Happy Easter

Prairie girl born and raised Edmontonian....very few of us as of late!!

I don't pop in much but here's what I feel is constructive information.

a lot of people say that can't take suppliments.  Well if we are slowly getting benzo out of our systems doesn't it make sense to slowing put the good stuff in?  I used to have a hard time with magnesium and D and B12 but not any more.  Little bit by little bit I slowly was able to add these supplements.

I was always on the quick fix band wagon... benzo withdraw has really shown me... that's if it's a quick fix... stay away from it unless it's healthy.

Reminder to all... nutrition is our best friend.  If god didn't make it don't eat it.  If it's man made don't eat it.  I've been living on mostly raw foods and I'm feeling better and better and better.  I drink shakes with mega nutritional vegetable with a little fruit with plain greek yogurt and it's working.  It really is.

I avoid sugar like the plague... it's fricken cancer causing... you'd be an idiot to think it's comforting food.  Nervous system doesn't like it one bit!

No wheat and very little coffee... ( i just can't seem to give that one up) but from mega coffee to one a day is just great with me.  My nervous system loves me for getting rid of this shitel

I have a roommate that power walks with me every week day for half hour before our day starts.

I work in an environment where I am getting loads of sunshine.

Green tea all the way ... I've been doing herbal because i liked it better but green tea is a must.  It actually has huge benefits including kills cancer cells.

Yogurt, yogurt and more yogurt... get those little beasts rolling in your tummy.  Priobiotics are a must to heal!

I drink a blender full of water with a little kale or spinach with 1/4 of a lemon in it everyday... even a few berries sometimes.  But it's refreshing and it's all about hydration and cleansing the body on an ongoing basis.

Peace out everyone!!

Navita65 ... Valium in Canada 10 - 5 - 2 ... also, liquid valium is available ...although I did not go the liquid route I was able to track it down through Sobeys pharmacy ... the on site pharmacist was reluctant to help so I called head office and was told they could source it for me if I required it ...

Sorry, a little late responding ... been tripping around benzo land of late ...
