I knew rooms full of ashes, Tunnels where the moon lived, Rough warehouses that growled 'get lost,' Questions that insisted in the sand. Everything was empty, dead, mute, Fallen abandoned, and decayed: Inconceivably alien, it all Belonged to someone else - to no one: Till your beauty and your poverty Filled the autumn plentiful with gifts. - Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets

Guest [in...]
I have same tree in my yard? Looks the same, called "Bloodgood" Japanese Maple. It is gorgeous! My son bought it for me for Mother's Day when he was little and now he's 22, so it's a mature tree now.

Guest [in...]
Sometimes we look for those thunderous things to happen in our life for our lives to change or go in the other direction. We seek the miracle. We seek the parting of the seas, the moving of the mountains. But no, it's a quiet thing. At least for me it was. - Ben Vereen http://i.ytimg.com/vi/BRm9lAKSOL4/maxresdefault.jpg I don't know when we'll see each other again or what the world will be like when we do. We may both have seen many horrible things, but I will think of you every time I need to be reminded that there is beauty and goodness in the world. - Arthur Golden
[ra...]
Rapunzelblue, Thank you so much. Hoping your week is coming along without too much difficulty. I'm getting through my days and nights looking at a lot of art, listening to music, and have embarked on at least five books that I hope to finish before too long. I have good intentions with my reading, but sometimes find it difficult to concentrate. Thank you, for your friendship ~ please take care of yourself. Love, Ins You too, Ins! I love reading your words and I am in awe of the strong beautiful soul you have. The art you post is wonderful--it really helps to look at it and remember the worlds of beauty that exist! Pablo Neruda's poems are particular favorites of mine. I read a really lovely children's book recently that was a biography of him. The illustrations used words from his poems. I think it was called Pablo Neruda: Poet of the People. Five books! Wow! That is an awesome goal and I'm so glad you have so many books. Books always comfort me, even though I have tons to read that I don't think I can handle. I'm having trouble with concentration too and I'm afraid of reading stuff that is too dark or adult. I'm grateful that there are so many excellent picture books and young adult books because those are easy for me. Much love to you.

I would be lost without art & love having the escape that is afforded when looking at paintings, listening to music, or reading poetry/literature. It's interesting you should mention children's books because I find so much wisdom in them. My son was in the habit of having me read to him when he was little, and I particularly remember reading Through the Looking Glass; If I missed a word here or there, he would correct me. I'll look into the Pablo Neruda book you mentioned. His poetry is enchanting, & his self-description is beautiful: My poetry was born between the hill and the river, it took its voice from the rain, and like the timber, it steeped itself in the forests. Thank you, so much for the encouragement and kindness. Hope you have a peaceful evening, my friend. Much love to you. Hugs, Ins
