Is this what we want, is this who we want to be?

@[Bl...] You are factually incorrect about the UK. Public finances are in a terrible state; the NHS is on its knees; very high inflation and interest rates; insanely high rent prices; and the highest fuel and food bills of comparable nations.

But all this is derailing the thread. So, we should leave it there. Thank you.

I think alot of this is cultural too .. This is or seems to be primarily a UK based site and those of us to live in the US face a much harder life and we tend to be VERY realistic about stuff .. good or bad . I saw that when I lived in the EU for roughly 6 years  when the UK was also still a member . I also worked in the UK for a good chunk of that time.. the system is different and in general they just don't have to grind it like most of us do here and they cant understand us . They have the affordability of not having to face reality quite so harshly . Better care , services, far far more support with everything than we get and its hard not to get resentful when one tells us our reality is too negative .

I'm not on much anymore either and cannot find the protracted board where I usually stay ,so I guess its gone ??

I hear you about being positive but 100% positivity is also not being honest about things . I wish I'd known not to sit around and wait for magic healing .. I am fair almost 5 years out but I'll never be the same again .

Adios all .

Colin is correct we should probably leave this here but I feel your comments need to be addressed.  I take exception to your broad generalizations, everyone here is suffering, we're in this together and you promoting us versus them mentality isn't helpful to this community.

No one is suggesting or expecting 100% positivity, I'm not sure why you bring that up.  I'm sorry to know you're still suffering so far out, I can't imagine feeling this way for so long.

We're currently working to get a protracted  forum up and running but this requires help from the members, if you're interested in helping, please contact the team.

I am one of those people so extremely bad and not much people who I can relate too. My symptoms are so severe that it feels like there is just no way out.
But never I do want to stop believing that I can’t get better. I NEED the hope of people who were very bad cases and healed eventually.
I was Thinking about maybe to sort out the severest cases with their succes stories for those that can only live on the hope of others .

i am like that. My sxs so bad that I can only live on the hope of others . So bad that I am Like maybe I have to call an ambulance every hour. Literally .not out of panic cause the akathasia is a low level now but out of extreme bone crushing body deforming squeezing metal burning rotting pain in nerves bones and muscles head to toe  I did oxycodone for pain which didn’t help and I am discussing DBS surgery for the severity of my dystonia .

is it maybe possible to put severe cases succes stories in a different file ? I know this sounds strange but it would be such a great addition to those who are now years very sick and need hope💜

Hello @[Ma...]

What I suggest you do is create a thread in Withdrawal & Recovery Support, or Insomnia, Depression & Anxiety, and reference a Success Story if that is what prompts your post (but does not fit with Success Stories). This will allow you to properly express your feelings and troubles, while at the same time respecting the purpose of the Success Stories forum.

Why must we always leave it there rather than discuss the things that have us all worried. In the US groceries housing and transportation is through the roof, we continue to borrow billions of dollars to fund Wars to provide housing and checks for illegals that have entered our country, now almost 8 million. And it's not just Mexican and South American illegals, approximately 13,000 young Chinese men of military age have entered our country, and we do nothing about it. One thing for certain the US and the UK share the blame for putting people in office that want to destroy our country our civilization our way of life. Everyday young non-english speaking African men are being dropped off in Atlanta Georgia with no means of support no place to stay so what is their option? Unlike the state of New York that hands out approximately 2,200 and housing to each illegal.

Hi @[Mu...]

Members are free or even encouraged to discuss what worries them. But the post from @[Bl...] was way off-topic. For what it is worth, I think what BD wrote was accurate for the UK at one time - when she lived here - but the UK is now in a dire situation. So, I posted a correction (all objective reporting would support my comments). I was also concerned about the thread possibly meandering into political discussion, which is pretty-much totally disallowed here (we have tried to allow it - it does not work).

The opening post to this thread:

I’ve been a part of this forum for a long time and have witnessed many changes.  As the membership changes, so does its personality and I have to say I’m alarmed at who we are at the moment.  I don’t believe I’ve ever witnessed the negativity I see now but I also don’t believe its who we are as a whole.  I feel a few in the vocal minority are drowning out those who are seeking hope, camaraderie and support.

The team has seen posts of late pointing to the negative turn of the forum with these members saying they’re leaving because of it.  Is this what we want, is this who we want to be, a place where hope goes to die, where members are driven away by the negativity?

The teams purpose in calling attention to this isn’t to single anyone out, we all have bad days and most everyone is in pain but we see too many posts from members who seem bound and determined to be the worst case.  People who say they will never heal and its up to everyone else to convince them otherwise, is this support or are we being manipulated by the few at great cost to the many?  Do these members really want to be convinced they’ll recover or are they comfortable making everyone dance to their negative tune?

As some of you have noticed, we’re making some changes to the forum, we’re migrating to new software.  We’ll have a totally new look, the teams hope is that we can leave the negativity behind when we make the transition, wouldn’t it be great if we could not only revitalize our look but our personality as well?

This is your forum, the team does its best but can’t lift everyone up, it takes all of us to make it something hopeful and helpful.  Please let us know your thoughts and if you feel as we do then lets change the tone, together we can.

No I am not . I lived I both places. Nor do I care if you take exception to anything I say . Come over here and try it out for a year or so .  Most people who do not live here also think the same as you and you are in fact wrong . We don't get the support you all get when we get sick or down, have to leave an abusive situation , need to somehow see a Dr   or just don't want to work like some of my friends still in the UK and they get supported .. I know .

I on the other hand had to work everyday through WD and beyond or I end up on the street in a box . I disagree with Jean about illegals(  I am a lefty )  but the rest shes pretty correct its survival of the fittest over here ... and yes we will leave it here .

Hi @[Bl...].

I was not meaning to give you a hard time about it. But the UK in the past few years (since Brexit) has gone through dramatic changes. Public finances are in a terrible state, and there is huge yearly deficit now. Yes, I am fully aware that the US has huge deficits too.

I am also quite familiar with the US and its healthcare system. It is terribly complicated and inequitable. It must change. But the NHS is in a truly terrible state. There are huge waiting times to see virtually all specialists, even for oncologists and cardiologists.

When did you last live in the UK?
