Hello, LF!

Ah, you are so kind to post the image.

Such a magnificent painting.  Thank you!

So glad you are feeling better and that you enjoyed Yo-Yo Ma. I've listened to that video off and on today.

I will give it another try in terms of posting an image.

No. I don't sleep well - understatement.      Insomnia is such a curse, but I know I'm not alone dealing with that.

Having some stressful days; life is certainly a challenge.    Having kind people like yourself who understand this whole

journey makes things easier, though.

Thank you, so much, LF.

Hopefully, time time I will get this to post.

The Three Candles ~ Marc Chagall, 1938

and, I agree, with LF.  I love what you've started here, Cate.

It's so inspiring looking at the paintings and listening to classical music.

Hi Insomniac

This is a beautiful painting. I like people in paintings.

The Three Candles ~ Marc Chagall, 1938

http://uploads5.wikiart.org/images/marc-chagall/the-three-candles-1940.jpg

If you google the title of the painting then the word "image" you usually get images of the painting.Click on one of them and at the bottom of the painting it says "view image"

Click on that and you get a page with only the painting in it.

This is a .jpg file (ends in .jpg)

Other file types don't work unfortunately

Thanks guys. Love the Bach, Seurat, Chagall and Toccata. Where would horror movies be without it? :)

I'm glad if your bad times are getting shorter LF. I hope they continue to do so until they disappear.

Insomniac, here is an example of a photo on a web page that will work: http://artblart.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/bocklin_villa_meer-web.jpg

Arnold Bocklin-Villa By The Sea

http://artblart.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/bocklin_villa_meer-web.jpg

and here is an example from wikipedia that won't:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isle_of_the_Dead_(painting)#mediaviewer/File:Isola_dei_Morti_IV_(Bocklin).jpg

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isle_of_the_Dead_(painting)#mediaviewer/File:Isola_dei_Morti_IV_(Bocklin).jpg

Those kinds of photo viewers don't seem to translate to here. It can be difficult to find a page with the painting you have in mind that works. Yes and you have to check the brackets, etc, on the code. You can click on Preview here before you post if you have any doubt.

If anyone wants to post a specific painting and gets frustrated finding a page that will work, then just post the link, this isn't supposed to be frustrating. Obviously it's nice if it's able to be visible here, but not at the sacrifice of sanity. I start out with a specific painting in mind and a lot of times end up posting something else because I can't find it on a page that will work here.

Hi Cate

Love the colours in Villa by the Sea.

I always google the title of the painting plus the word "image".

So far it has worked for me.  ;D

I hope you are doing ok. Have been in the doldrums today. :'(

Paintings and music always lift my spirits.  ;D

Hugs LF. I'm sorry to hear you are feeling low, I know how it is. I hope the clouds lift asap.  :smitten:

I was doing all right, quickly tapering the zopiclone, then the last two days have been quite miserable. Feel like I'm itching all over, jumping out of my skin. I actually drank some alcohol-and I don't drink-just a couple of drinks, but I felt unbearable. Took a rescue dose of clonazepam today. I was almost finished my taper too. Anyway, hopefully it won't last and I can get back on track.

Yes I enjoy looking at beautiful art and listening to beautiful music, it really can help. Along with a lot of films and good tv shows.

I love your Renoir, just gorgeous. The colours, the softness of the texture, the beauty of the lady. And yes it is a great hat!

Hi Cate

I am sorry to hear you have been feeling miserable too. A rescue dose is ok.  I did that a couple of times when I felt I could not stand it any more.  It is like being tortured and tormented. How much longer? How many more symptoms? etc etc. It is best not to think about these things but sometimes it is difficult not to.  :-\:(>:(

Tomorrow will be a better day.

Gerrit Dou, The Violin Player

You almost did it, Ins.  :yippee:  well done. You just missed out one bracket at the beginning.

Now I see you have cracked it.  ;D

What a wonderful painting.  Gerrit Dou is a new name for me.

This pretty much sums up how I felt when I woke up this morning. ;)

And for the last month...and coming month

I am looking back at all the paintings and I must have missed this post. It is so funny.

I hope you don't feel like this today.  :)

Lol, I forgot I posted that.

Things have been a little rough as I've been in acute withdrawal first from pain meds, then benzos/sleep meds for over two months. Also, I'm chronically ill on top of it, so it's been difficult. Anyway, I'm down to half a pill and hope to be able to get off soon.

Thanks for your kindness LF. I hope you are feeling well today. Hugs :smitten:

Gerrit Dou  "A Lady at the Clavichord"

Dou had been a pupil of Rembrandit in the 1620s.

This is lovely.  When I was little and studying piano in Germany my teacher took me to see Mozart's first piano. It was in a museum to be displayed at a Mozart festival I was performing in. The piano looked a lot like the one in this painting.

Hi, pianogirl

That is amazing.  How fortunate you were to have seen Mozart's first piano.  Also, you are a pianist.  I'm envious.

I've always wanted to play.  Maybe one day.

I was looking at this image earlier today, and I was curious about the clavichord.  From what I read,

it was invented in the early 14th century - with it's popularity from the 16th century to the 18th century, mainly flourishing

in German-speaking lands, Scandinavia, and the Iberian Peninsula in the latter part of this period.

It's very beautiful instrument.

Hi everyone

Cate, sorry you feel rough but you are doing so well coming off these tablets.

Ins, the paintings you post are so gorgeous. The Benjamin West one is so striking

Pianogirl, good to see you here.  :D  I tried to learn the piano but wasn't very good at it.  >:(

I am too tired to look for paintings tonight.  I only slept all day + half the night!!!!

:sleepy: :sleepy: :sleepy: :sleepy: :sleepy:
