Benedryl for anxiety?

Benadryl works for me but I can only take it before sleeping since it's so sedating.  I have taken it during a panic attack once and it did the trick.  It's not something you want to overuse, as it acts like a deliriant at high doses.

Benadryl works great for me at night before bed, but if I take it during the day, it causes anxiety for me. I'm not sure why.

Same for me, also I had a paradoxical effect to hydroxyzine...it was like I was on speed holy crap.

Before I can start my Xanax taper I have to get off Suboxone. Suboxone is very sedating for me. I end up not being able to fall asleep. I was very nervous to take another medication. But after 3 days without sleep I did. I can't prove that Benadryl directly caused this but nothing else had changed - I started getting restless leg syndrome. It took several nights of taking Benadryl at night & being up with RLS for me to make the connection. Be careful!
