IF DOGS COULD SPEAK

She has made another cut God damn those drugs, she’s crying all day long

They are evil bloody little things she cant do right for doing wrong.

Everything She’s done today, she has made a rotten mess

Dropping things and stumbling tripping over me, my names Tess.

I looked up at her I could read her mind saying here we go again

My bloody owners mood swings are driving me insane.

She sat and stroked me all day long just a couple of days ago

I can’t help her that’s for sure I’m a DOG in case you didn’t know.

Hope she stays out of the kitchen coz she’s going to get burned

She’s forgetful and she spills things I am really quite concerned.

She will be fine when she gets on the internet with her benzo friends

Yes she might be better tomorrow then she will make amends.

Because she will spoil me rotten and stroke me all day long again

I know I will get my own way she will even walk me in the rain.

I must say she’s a lot better Its not everyday I see her tears

Every now and then she flips but she’s still better than she’s been in years.

I would never swap her for an owner who’s exactly the same every day

Kind of like life a little bit colourful wouldn’t like every day to be grey.

She’s done well since she started to taper I know the pain she has been through

And I love her as much as a dog can and I know that she loves me too.

This is one of my favorites Margo!  I'm sure we've all had moments with our furry friends where we feel like we aren't being enough for them.  Thank goodness they have such big hearts.

You shine, dear one!  :smitten:

Give Tess a scratch,  ;D

This poem was written July 2010

Grateful

Became benzo free in April I did a taper for over a year

Thanks to the mods and the admins and my wonderful friends on here

For twenty plus years addicted to pills don’t have to take them no more

Never thought this day would ever come its been hell what Ive had to endure.

Went for a walk in the park today, it’s a simple task for most

But for me it’s a very terrifying ordeal my face was as white as a ghost.

I made sure my head was as low as can be, couldn’t face talking to folk

My stomach was churning was shaking like jelly I thought I was going to choke.

I came back from my walk depression lifted, I decided to cook us a meal

Something is happening Ive been sick for so long, is it the healing that I can feel.

Going for walks, cooking meals, washing clothes are tasks that I could not do

The evil drug made me lose self-respect and disabled me for a long time too

I am so grateful for the way I feel right now, doesn’t matter how long it will last

It’s wonderful  to get a taste of normality, for however long it’s a blast.

I have learned to take each day as it comes and get through it the best way I can

Most of my days have been hell for so long since my taper from benzos began.

On my journey I have had a few windows that lasted a day sometimes two

What a blessing they are to feel well for a while a glimpse of the future will do.

Some day that window remains open and will do so for the rest of my days

So for now I just take it one day at a time until my open window stays.

God bless this wonderful forum and the beautiful people it holds

You never cease to amaze me as your courage and compassion unfolds

Truly you’re all quite remarkable, my heroes you will always remain

And I know for the rest of my lifetime, I shall never see such bravery again.
