        IF

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you

But make allowance for their doubting too

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting

Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies

Or being hated, don’t give way to hating

And yet don’t look too good or talk too wise

If you can dream and not make dreams your master

If you can think and not make thoughts your aim

If you can meet with triumph and disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same

If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools

Or watch the things you gave your life to be broken

And stoop and build ‘em up with workout tools

If you can make one heap with all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch and toss

And lose and start again at your beginnings

And never breathe a word about your loss

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them “ hold on”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue

Or walk with kings nor lose the common touch

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you

If all men count with you but none too much

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds worth of distance run

Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it

And, which is more- you’ll be a Man, my son!

BBs HUGS to everyone that visit this post. And WELCOME! All throughout my life, I’ve read and written poems that have made an impact on my life. Most of them I still reap the benefits to this very day. I use to host poetry cafes with a friend awhile ago. Those nights were serene, edifying, relaxing, comforting, stress reducing, etc etc. it crossed my mind to start another one here.

In this cafe, I’ll be posting poems that I’ve written or written by others that may help us through our benzo WD days. In this cafe after reading a poem please highlight the part of the poem that stuck with you along with a BRIEF explanation of why ( if you’d like) and leave a virtual “ SNAP”. You’re also welcome to post a poem but I ask that it be POSITIVE, non-violent or anything that may be overstimulating.

Also please do not use this thread to carry on personal conversations. For example, if someone posts a part of a poem they like then someone else post replying that they like what was said. Please don’t. I’d like to keep the flow of this cafe without people having to skip through so many personal posts to get to what they’re here for.

So grab your cup of decaf  leave your symptoms at the door and let this be your place of serenity. Happy Healing!

I’ll start it off with this short poem…

            “  NOW  “

Right now I can make a choice

To lay here and cry or let this be the moment I take control

Right now I have just enough strength

To seize this moment as my cue to fight for my sanity

Right now I can take this fear by the horns

To use it by steering myself a path to renewed bravery

Right now I have a little willpower within

To not participate in this current madness but just observe it

Right now I can see a light of victory

To brighten these dark steps I must take to heal

Right now I have the courage

To bandage these wounds left by this benzo battle that I will win

Right now I still can live….

I feel my breath…

That’s all I need…

Yes I’m still alive to live in my right now

Right now

WRITTEN by LadyDen ( just now)  :)

The could have beens

The should have beens

The would have beens

All are distant but present

Fading and sinking

Resurfacing and reappearing

I welcomed the blessed reset of my soul

Only to come to this

Rigid conclusion

I must fight

I will fight

The King has greater plans

For this lowly servant

In my vanity

I strayed so far from

the test of obedience

And now I cry out

Once more

For mercy and strength

Zman thank you for taking the time to share this beautiful poem. What stuck out to me is…

I must fight. I will fight. The king has greater plans for this lowly servant. WOW!!! I’m holding on to those words today. It reminded me of a scripture in the Bible that says “ I know my plans for you. To not harm you but prosper you….” The KING does have a greater plan. He is a healer. So we cry out to him for mercy and strength. 🙏❤️🤗 Thank you so much for this reminder.

In celebration of Valentine’s Day here’s a poem of love. Enjoy!

              Definition of Love

What is love I ask myself in the observation of the displays of it

Is it to have affections for something or someone but fades with time

As disappointments takes its place?

Or is it when you feel the burn in your heart fueled by admirations

Or tokens given because it just feels good?

Can it be that maybe I’m not seeing love at it’s highest level

Because I’m on the ground looking for it?

Is it possible that it’s staring me in the face every day as a reflection

In the mirror that I identify as me?

When I receive a chastisement to benefit my soul or a critique

That I didn’t like but if I accept it then make adjustments, is that not love?

What if I see an unfortunate being cold in winter’s winds and remove

My favorite coat to gift him with warmth for his chilled bones?

I’m shown my definition of love was far away from the reality

Of what it really is in its totality.

It isn’t a word to be loosely tossed about like a leaf blowing

In the fall breeze but it is to be respected.

Nor is it just some feeling I get when I see a lovely dress in a store

Or indulge in things that put a smile on my face.

Love is by definition a complete deep concern for another’s welfare

Without conditions or regards to past happenings

I’ve found that true love is a man, who sacrificed himself

Unconditionally for the whole world without hesitation.

Love is The Creator of heavens and Earth coming down

Victoriously a willing savior for all to see it’s definition manifested.

If I am HIM then I am love too and then I know what love is

And can boldly answer when I’m asked the definition of love.

                  FOR A SEASON

There’s a time or a season for all things as it’s been said

A time to mourn, time to laugh even times we bow our heads.

When we are going down one of life’s hardest paths.

Lessons we learn along the way will be a jewel of the aftermath.

Some of these paths are short and some may be long.

Hold on, oh dear warrior, you will in the end sing your victory song.

Just remember that although it isn’t easy, it’s just for a season.

Nothing that we go through is happening for no reason.

As you well know, seasons aren’t forever and yes they must change.

You will be alright, just be patient and watch as your sun shine again.

But while you have no choice but to persevere through today.

Keep your light of hope lifted for it will guide the way.

Yes you’re in a wintry season where nothing even blooms.

Press on with your weary soul, you’ll see it ending soon.

All things are only for a season and that’s just the way it goes.

Don’t worry about how long for it is God who only knows.

Your Spring is on the horizon just like it always has it’s time.

Then Summer will take its place full of the brightest sunshine.

Take comfort in your journey as you face tiring twists and turns.

But oh the lovely lessons you’ll receive, priceless things you’ve learned!

These are the fruits of your labour forever embedded in your heart.

To be utilized when seasons change and never to fall apart.

Miracle - by Me

I need a miracle.

I will have to jump into the deep ocean

of uncertainty.

Will you be there to catch me?

Will you?

I will have to fall back, arms spread wide.

Will you be there to catch me?

Will you?

Soon I will jump, I will fall.

Please catch me.

Will you?

I need a miracle…will you catch me?

Wow, very nice poem. The comfort of knowing that SOMEONE will catch us when we fall is priceless. This does take a miracle to heal but God has plenty of those to go around.  ♥️

I fight with all my might

Because I know it’ll be alright

It won’t always be night

I’ll soon stand in the light.

I cry with a great sigh

Because I just want to know why

My days have gone array

But still I must continue to try

I dance with a painful stance

Because I have to take the chance

To gainfully enhance

What’s worth a second glance

I wait with the trust of fate

Because I know this will abate

Freedom is what awaits

For me, it’s not too late

I endure with a sense of sure

Because my life I live assured

That all this will not obscure

What I know is good and pure

So, I press on.

Came across this one and thought to share it with you.

“ I woke up

this morning

afraid that I had

begun my last day

so

I tightened the

faucets on all of

the clocks in my house

until every minute

that was passing

felt like it was a fat

droplet of water

resting on the lip

of a spigot

it clung to

just before letting go

and splashing on

my bare toes

~ and now time is

just dripping by me

in slow motion

my love,

I have discovered

how less scary the

world is when it isn't

pouring through my

fingers all at once

~ when I take life

just one easy

drop at a time

things don't feel

so overwhelming

and I'm

starting to

stare at each

leisurely forming

bead of time

like the unhurried

marvel it is

like the unique

little bulb of

reflected light

it was made to be

and now

I think I

might just

make it

another day

my love,

~when this life

isn't a rushing flood

of blurred moments

it's so damn

beautiful

~when life becomes

a deliberate pitter patter

of wonderment

it's all exactly

what I imagined

it was going

to be like before

I was born

it’s a downpour of

life that comes down

one methodical

drippity drop

of time at a time

drop

I can make it

drop

I can make it

drop

it's all a miracle

drop

it's all such an adventure

drop

I can't wait to see what comes next

drop

thank you Creation for giving me another day

drop

I can make it

drop

I can make it

drop

oh my love,

drop

I'm not scared any more

drop

I can see angels in the clouds now

drop

I think I am going to be okay

drop

I can make it

oh, my love, I can make it

dropdropdropdropdrop

Wild I love this!  Life is so much easier when it’s a drop of water instead of pouring out. The analogy here is lovely. I’ll definitely keep this in mind that water pours out but it eventually gets turned off and all that’s left is a slow drip. Only for a short time then even that stops. Loveeeeeee this! Thank you. 💗🎀🎀💗

        Lessons of a bird

I observed a bird then lessons were revealed.

A type and shadow of when I’m healed.

He gracefully flew to rest on my window sill.

No worry of the time for only now was his will.

He spread his wings in a fancy display.

In preparation of what come what may.

I watched as he waited to retrieve his prize.

Trusting that it would soon arise.

He swooped right down landing so precise.

Satisfaction of how he did it right.

Good things come with patience and time.

Thanks little bird for that remind.

And have no worries as I endure.

I’ll get my prize, oh yes, for sure.

To keep my eyes open and remember the song I heard.

When I was visited to witness the lessons of a bird.

      Dream of Healing

I dreamed a dream that felt so real

A dream of how I will heal

Bit by bit yet steady is it’s pace

That’s how I will win this tedious race

Ups and downs will take their turn

It is how healing is earned

I might cry for what it cost

But in the end all is not lost

Each passing day brings progress sure

For time is certainly the only cure

I’ll fight the feelings of giving up

With joy of healing filling my cup

I can’t afford to let doubt win

Not when evidence shows it will end

So for now I’ll wait for soon I’ll heal

And this dream will then be very real

Until that day arrives with its light

I’ll continue to fight the good fight

To live the proof of this too shall pass

That troubles don’t always last

I must welcome it, make no mistake

For that is simply what it takes

Riding the waves one after another

With confidence like no other

I’m holding on, yes I’ll be free

Completely healed, completely me

While I wait I will remain so strong

For soon this dream will be my victory song

"I dreamed a dream that felt so real

A dream of how I will heal"

It felt just like a dream to get to walk on my river trail the other day.  The contrast between that day and this one is extreme.  But I have to remember I was there and I did cry tears of joy for a few moments.  I will use that memory to keep hope alive.
