Should I follow the advice of the sleep specialist?

Why don’t u sleep in ur chair? If ur falling asleep just go with it! Set it up all ready to go and if u can fall asleep go for it!

Sometimes I think about sleeping somewhere else. Like one of my kids rooms. But I’ve done that and it didn’t help much.

I’m still going to therapy. Just not as often. I think it’s good for us because we need tools to cope with what’s happening to us. I think it’s a great idea that ur going x

I understand how u feel about supps. But it’s worth a try? They definitely won’t hurt u.

I drink camomile tea too, but only because I like it. I know it’s not helping me sleep but it’s lovely and relaxing. I drink it while I read.

What do u do before “bedtime”? I usually read. Think having a good wind down routine is at least good to have in place to try and relax you. I know the whole sleep hygiene thing doesn’t help us much but it’s still nice to be as relaxed as we can be xx

I slept in a chair for a year to try to reduce the effects of the reflux, which causes a lot of burning from my nose down to my lungs.  It didn't really help and I ended up with insomnia.  And I still have the burning, though somewhat less severe.  I'm glad you're still doing therapy; I hope I get something out of it.  Before bed I've been listening to a woman named Phoebe reading a variety of books.  It's relaxing, though I don't like her reading style.

So sorry for my mistakes lovely,  You must do what’s right for you. Listen to your gut feeling.  Hope you’re being kind to yourself. Xx

Oh KA x does the reflux come up from ur stomach? Have u ever tried slippery elm?

I listen to audiobooks too but I usually can only listen to books with an English accent. I don’t know why! I guess it’s just quite soothing for some reason x but I think that’s a nice way to finish the day.

Have u ever read any off MTfans posts? Age had severe insomnia and she had a routing she stuck to at night so that even if she wasn’t sleeping she wasn’t lying in bed thrashing around. I thrashed around last night. I don’t know why I did that when I have perfectly good books to read.

Whew, rough night - severe reflux burning, no sleep.  Of course I had to get the type of reflux problem (lpr) that often doesn't respond to acid reducers.  I've had all kinds of diagnostic tests during the past year, all giving equivocal results.  No clear path out of this mess.  Can psychotherapy help me deal with all this?  I'll try but I have my doubts.  I'm bummed.

I strongly believe therapy can help huge whenu find ur perfect match. I interview therapist first.  I had lots of therapy pushing out of where you are. If you find one you click with u hv a real chance at feeling a whole lot better. Therapy isn’t always easy learning skills n doing the work but it def helped me out. I saw a panic specialist for 15 yrs before I even wd from kl n the skills she taught me helped save my life during kl wd.  I’ll b 🙏 for u.

Hello

I read about your reflux and thought I’d stop in.

During my own withdrawal from Ativan then valium I developed severe reflux esophagitis, went through endoscopy and everything to find this out. The only thing that worked for my problem was both Protonix and therapy.

Thinking of you and wishing you well

Thanks, KID.  Unfortunately, I apparently have lpr which has not been alleviated by any of the ppis.  The respiratory tract burning and virtually total insomnia have me in a bad way.  I hope I have the resources to do what it takes to benefit from therapy; it seems to be my only recourse.
