I will make sure to ask him tomorrow morning, but a huge thing is not messing with it! I don't know if you have anxiety or not, but that can make you stress and touch your areas that are bothering you or mess with them. It helps so much when he doesn't  touch his face/lip

I've noticed it's an indicator if I have any anxiety also. Literally typing this out and thinking about it is causing some tension. Glasses seem to mess with it as well.

I really hope these symptoms go away for you soon!!

One of my most prominent scary symptoms were POTS like symptoms. For years after quitting Celexa, my heart rate would shoot up to 130-150 doing the simplest of things.  It felt like I couldnt breath well either. I would fixate on this and that would make it worse. I was missing out on doing things with my daughter because I was busy staring at my heart rate monitor watch, and feeling like my heart was going to explode. This wasnt just normal anxiety heart racing either, because I have known that feeling all throughout my life.

This was different. VERY physical, and I would go from 56 bpm sitting, to 120+ just standing. It feels dreadful.  One thing that finally helped me was getting ALL of the tests done to rule out anything else. Once those came back normal, I stopped worrying about it as much, and the symptoms lessened  and lessened and pretty much went away. I still experience it here and there, but after getting those tests, it was like magic, I didn't fixate as much and eventually it went way down.

When we are experiencing these symptoms it causes a snowball effect of feeling it, fixating on it, messing with it, and naturally it getting worse. I try caringly explaining to my husband to try not to focus and fixate as much and see if it makes a difference.

Maybe for you, definitive answers from a specialist ruling out everything else can put your mind at ease a bit, and you can notice the symptoms gradually fading away. I truly hope this happens for you and everyone else suffering!

I also had nerve issues for a while as well. Very anxiety inducing for sure!! I wish you healing and wellness

Husband finally saw a Neurologist today. He too Diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia  and prescribed harsh meds, and medical marijuana, and said Celexa/benzo withdrawl could absolutely  not be the cause of this.

I still have hope that this will go away, since it did start after quitting the meds. Still so sad to hear another diagnosis of this :(

Anyone else out there who has this after quitting an SSRI or Benzo?

Thanks for reading.

Tegratol?

I'm so sorry that you are suffering. Thank you for replying. It helps to know others have experienced this even though I wish no one ever has to. I hope it only continues to get better for you from here on out.

So....I think a TN diagnosis is one of those mimic'd conditions of w/d. It's fairly rare and is most common in those with MS (another benzo w/d mimic). I can say with fair certainty this sucks, but it should go away as the body relaxes. TN is a big deal, but this is not and it'll pass (in time).

Prayers!

He feels. It on left side of face. Can go from neck up to scalp and behind the eye. Says it feels like he was punched in the face. It can come and go in severity! I do also have high hopes that this will eventually go away

My facial symptoms started about two months after jumping. It began with the sensation like someone took a wooden ruler and slapped me across the right side of my face from the top of my ear to the corner of my mouth. It burned for days, then became numb for days and now, 7 months later, the corner of my mouth tingles / buzzes with sensation. This is in addition to tingling fingertips in both hands and numbness / tingling in my right foot / leg.

I've seen a family Doctor, two Neurologists, a Chiropractor, had a MRI of the brain, countless blood tests, ultrasound of my carotid arteries and leg veins, referred to a Muscular Neurology Specialist / Neurologist (who's earliest appt date is in Feb of next year) and been prescribed three different meds that double in dose every two weeks in "hopes" of it maybe having an effect on it. So far.....nothing. Absolutely no indication as to what is causing this, and the Doctor's aren't interested in even entertaining the idea that it could be related to my benzo withdrawal.

I just saw this post. It sounds like the doctors threw the medicine chest at your husband!

I was on Celexa about 15 years ago. I did taper off of it with some difficulty 10 years ago. I swore that I would never do anything like that again. Well, I was talked into using Xanax and things went downhill very fast. It's been a long recovery for me.

The facial nerve pain is something that I have experienced off and on. Mostly on my left side of my head. I have had jaw and teeth pain on that side as well.

After reading about your husband's experience, I wonder if my use of Celexa contributed to my bad experience with Xanax.

It's very clear to me that it does take a far longer time for many of us to be 100% symptom free. As many have said on hear, symptoms become milder and shorter in duration as time goes by. That has been my experience.

I think that his eye pain and other facial symptoms will fade. It can be disturbing and scary at times. Guessing and worrying about what is happening just amplifies the anxiety.

I really do belive this is the case and it will lessen in time! Anxiety still creeps up when it gets bad and you think what if this is forever?

I've had things take years to heal after coming off meds and things still slowly healing so that is comforting to us and hopefully others
