Yes, sadly, small animals might be given benzodiazepines. Let's hope it's never a long-term thing. I can't imagine watching a dog or cat go through benzo withdrawal.

Yes, i had a cat given it by the ver for a cross country move in the 80's, because it was prone to non stop crying while in a car. The kitty was zonked out the whole trip and we worried about it dying of dehydration.

I once saw a horse that was given benzos because its leg was injured and it couldn't walk and to avoid that the poor horse would go crazy about that they gave him benzos.. I couldn't believe that.

As a little kid I used to whine in the car during long drives.  My dad fixed that.  Same solution was available for kitty, no?
