Guest [in...]
There is stubbornness about me that never can bear to be frightened at the will of others. My courage always rises at every attempt to intimidate me. - Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice http://images.fineartamerica.com/images-medium-large/paint-the-future-andrew-judd.jpg I must say a word about fear. It is life's only true opponent. Only fear can defeat life. It is a clever, treacherous adversary, how well I know. It has no decency, respects no law or convention, shows no mercy. It goes for your weakest spot, which it finds with unnerving ease. It begins in your mind, always...so you must fight hard to express it. You must fight hard to shine the light of words upon it. Because if you don't, if your fear becomes a wordless darkness that you avoid, perhaps even manage to forget, you open yourself to further attacks of fear because you never truly fought the opponent who defeated you. - Yann Martel, Life of Pi Fear's Amazing Statistics*: 40% of what you worry about will never happen 30% of what you worry about or fear are things that happened in the past and can't be changed 10% of what we worry about are considered by most to be insignificant issues 12% of what we worry about are issues about our health that will not happen This means that 92% of what we fear or worry about will never take place *Fear of Stuff.com WHAT AN AMAZING POST! You always bring the daring to this thread. Here are a few fun facts about the amazing Steve McQueen: In the film Le Mans, Steve McQueen, himself a championship racer, did most of his own driving on the harrowing 8.5 mile Le Mans course - often at speeds exceeding 200 mph. He was voted the most iconic biker of all time in February 2007. He was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999. He was a stunt man, pilot, race car driver and motor cycle enthusiast. Guest [in...]
Hi Ins As you know, Im a huge fan of EE Cummings. Thanks! To me, She seems to want to hide but by covering her face, she doesn't. If that makes sense. It's also painted in a way that it looks like he arm is an extension of her face... Like her expression is al out coming thought her arm. Hope you're doing ok as can be, Insom

Guest [in...]
The Invitation By Oriah Mountain Dreamer It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing. It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love for your dream for the adventure of being alive. It doesnt interest me what planets are squaring your moon... I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow if have been opened by life's betrayals or have become shrivelled and closed from fear of further pain. I want to know if you can sit with pain mine or your own without moving to hide it or fade it or fix it. I want to know if you can be with joy mine or your own if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful to be realistic to remember the limitations of being human. It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself. If you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul. If you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy. I want to know if you can see Beauty even when it is not pretty every day. And if you can source your own life from its presence. I want to know if you can live with failure yours and mine and still stand at the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, "Yes." It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after the night of grief and despair weary and bruised to the bone and do what needs to be done to feed the children. It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the centre of the fire with me and not shrink back. It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away. I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

Guest [in...]
Hi everyone! I found a long forgotten huge box of photographs from my son's first few years of life. I had put it aside and assured myself I'd have plenty of time to put them in albums once he started kindergarten....well, wow, time has passed quickly and he's way done with kindergarten. And there sits the box of photos, untouched. Soooo much time now for things like that, yet I only want to swing in the hammock, staring up into the trees and the heavens. [Te...]
BRING ON THE HAMMOCK!!! The memories pictures evoke are there already...we just have to find them...if you are blessed with so many memories that you can't bring them all to front, you have had a fulfilling life...enjoy the ones that surface while you swing in your hammock and stare skyward... I went thru a 75 pound suitcase full of photos last summer(there is another yet to drag out), and I thought I would put to the side the special ones...and I did...and the suitcase still weighs 75 pounds. tex

You're getting there.. Yup, he has been out of kindergarten for a while, huh? It's bittersweet to see the pictures of when they were still so little, I think... Wish I could join you hammocking away.. But no rocking for me, please. Vertigo is still my companion after all these months. I like the second quote , especially. It's just learning a new way for me of looking at things and these quotes give me lots to think about. What do I want to see today. Good seeing you Enjoy your hike this weekend ( I'm assuming ) Moo
