Well yes I  have often thought the same Guitarman. I know what is going on regarding the survey but to actually be there at a meeting is totally different. You mention numbers Guitarman when I first joined this forum I only knew of less than a handful from the U.K who just happened to be on the same benzo that once took.

 

I personally would be interested in how many here on the forum are from the U.K if my memory serves me right there was once a thread asking where we were all from but that I think stopped not sure.

I've come across more than a dozen buddies from the UK at least. I know there must be many others who haven't said where they're from. I know there are many, many people still on benzos in the UK even though they don't prescribe it to new patients generally speaking. It's mostly people who've been on these drugs from the late 90 and back. Though in lower numbers they are still prescribed today to new patients initially for no more than 2 weeks but it's a tricky one.

Hi all,

 

Dr. Jennifer Leigh (Dr. Jenn) is organising "a benzo summit at the end of this summer for benzo survivors," and invites participation, ideas and topics for discussion from anyone who might be interested. The conference will be held at The Mercy Center, Burlingame, CA (San Francisco).

 

Dr. Jenn, a counseller, drawing upon her personal experience of benzodiazepine withdrawal, is busy rebuilding her coaching practice, with a particular interest in helping people cope with benzodiazepine withdrawal.

 

The summit is yet to be confirmed. It depends upon how many people express a firm interest in attending. I would like to encourage members to engage in the process of proposing topics for discussion. Jennifer is keen to encourage wide participation and for attendees to take the lead in deciding the summit agenda. Dr Jenn has no financial interest in hosting/managing the conference.

 

We have a lot of members from California. Hopefully some of them and some from further afield will be able to make it the summit. I am optimistic that the event will be well attended.

Yes, that's the case.

 

Though, it seems that Jennifer has abandoned the Mercy Center option due to lack of overnight visitors (she needed ten visitors to stay at the Mercy Center to make use of their conference facilities).

Hi everyone.

I wanted to post here and let people know that the benzo summit didn't get off the ground. We didnt get enough people who were well enough to travel to it, and I got SLAMMED with the wave from hell. I am still fighting it. I made my blog private, as I don't feel I can be of help to others at the moment. I didn't see this one coming.

 

Hope everyone is doing well and holding on. Keep fighting. Our CNS have to repair and settle down at some point. (Hope so!)

That's ok.  Are you still fighting?  I am so sorry!!  You can do this.  I bet it's the last one.  We can't wait to celebrate with you.  Maybe next year we can do the summit.
