Hi Jumpman, I am currently tapering from 5mg Valium. I recommend using whole fat, homogenized milk, insted of water, as benzos are fat soluble, not water soluble. Even so, best you can hope for is a suspension.

What I use:

- 1 Valium tablet with 10mg of diazepam

- 2 small jars with lid

- one 50ml syringe

- one 10ml syringe

- one small bowl to draw the milk from

How I do it:

In the morning

- crush the Valium tablet inside a piece of folded paper

- pour the dust into one of the jars, making sure I get every speck

- pour 100ml milk over it, let it stay in the fridge to dissolve until the evening

In the evening

- shake the jar well

- immediately draw 50ml of the concoction into the other jar - this way I have two 5mg doses

- draw with the small syringe the amount I want to cut from both, throw away that

- drink the contents of one jar

- leave the other jar in the fridge for the next evening to drink

This way, I make a 1:10 dilution for my benzo.

Below you have a spreadsheet with 5% exponential cuts, down to below 0.5 mg Valium. You cut every two weeks, according to sxs. If its to hard, slow down, if you feel you can handle faster, do 10% cuts.

Also, be mindful not to switch mediums and cut at the same time. In other words, first you switch to liquid, hold to stabilize, then start to taper.

Oh, and one more thing, the benzo is VERY bitter. You can ad some syrup over it to cover the horrible taste. And you need to rinse the jar a couple of times and drink the rinse, to make sure you get all the benzo.

I added a video for you, maybe you'll understand better:

new0girl:  Tip of the hat for sharing the details of your well-informed approach to tapering diazepam!  I’m certain jumpman23 appreciates the time, effort, and generosity of spirit required to do this, as do I.

jumpman23: Before members can assist you in developing a taper plan, we need more information from you.  For example:

- Per your signature, you are taking Ativan.  Is this still the case? Or have you crossed over to diazepam?

- What is your current total daily dose of diazepam?

- What is your current daily dosing schedule (how many milligrams of drug do you take at what times)?

- Are you ‘stable enough’ on the above dose and dosing schedule to taper?

- What percent reduction do you wish to try? *

- What taper interval do you wish to try?

*Factors to consider when selecting a percent reduction to trial include your age and general health, how long you’ve been taking a benzodiazepine or benzodiazepines, whether or not you have a history of starting/stopping benzodiazepines or other psychotropic drugs
