My sleep has gotten very weird.  Still have probs falling asleep and waking a lot.  But sometimes I am out a long time, and struggle to wake.

How do you know which is your 'deep sleep'?  When you dream?

REM is different from Deep sleep.  REM is dream sleep and a lighter stage of sleep compared to Deep sleep.  The main stages of sleep are light, REM and Deep along with being awake, so technically 4 stages.  Other experts say there are 5 stages...wake, N1, N2, and N3 along with REM.  Each "N" stage is a progressively deeper stage of "Deep" sleep.  Fitbit's and other health monitoring devices can determine how long you are in REM, Deep, light or awake.  The Oura Ring actually is the most accurate and assessing the type and quality of sleep you receive each night. My fitbit is about 75% accurate but the Oura ring is considered equal to sleep study or sleep lab quality?  Not advertising, just sharing.  www.ouraring.com

BTW, REM sleep is psychologically restoring and Deep sleep is physiologically restoring.
