How Do I Cross Taper From 2mg Klonopin to Valium

I've been on Klonopin for 30 years and my pdoc wants me to do a klonopin/va;ium cross taper when I hit 1.5 mg. Do I switch from klonopin to valium all at one time or do I taper down on the klonopin and start a low dose of valium. I've read the ashton manual and I'm still confused!

May I ask why does your doctor want you to crossover and how do you feel about it?
