What is reverse tolerance?

Another post discussed reverse tolerance. The the person posting

stated they were feeling better as they were getting lower. What is reverse tolerance?

My question is, are there cases of people who get less tolerant to the drug as they reduce and taper?

Until today, I haven't seen anybody on the boards talking about that.

People sometimes talk of a paradoxical effect, where taking the drug makes them more (instead of less) anxious/depressed.  But I haven't heard anybody mention 'reverse tolerance' until now.

Hi. I'm the mysterious poster.

Wiki has a definition for it, but I'm not sure it's the same as what you say this other poster was talking about.

That's exactly what I was talking about.

Now let me clarify a few things.

My question is, are there cases of people who get less tolerant to the drug as they reduce and taper?

Everybody becomes less tolerant to any addictive drug as they decrease it -

just like they become more tolerant when they increase it -

eventually reaching zero tolerance after recovering from withdrawal.

That is not reverse tolerance.

The person posting stated they were feeling better as they were getting lower.

That is not the whole story.

I mentioned reverse tolerance as a possible explanation,

but I also said I wouldn't put any money on it.

Thanks,  it seems some people suffer so much as they get lower. I  wondered why.

I to feel better after dropping dose mg. I wonder since I was on such a high dose then tapered 6mg_1mg that I may have gotten reserve tolerance

Hi Magnolis,

I am one of those people. I went through crazies while getting lower. Those 3 weeks were my withdrawal. Happy to know this is the norm for some.
