Wow, RaquelRocks, thank you. Here's two I think might have the same vibe as yours. The first one is definitely more cheerful, the latter deals with a broken heart:

- "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey

- "Black Books" by Nils Lofgren

Thanks for that, seltzerer! For whatever reason, I was thinking of Monty Python just about half an hour ago. And then I logged into BB to find your post...

I thought twice about posting it on BB but couldn't resist.

I was stuck on the Dead Parrot Sketch this morning. I guess this happy tune is a little more upbeat!  I still need a Dead Parrot fix, though, so I'll watch it too.  :)

"Dark Road" - Richard Hawley

It's a long dark road that I call my home

It a long dark road that I'm cursed to roam

These many nights I've been banished here

My companion is the stars

With a bed roll and a blanket

And just the the rocks to lay my bones

One day from the darkness

I'll come rapping at your door

And I'll never walk this road anymore

(x2)

No, I'll never walk this road anymore

No, I'll never leave this home anymore

"Twined and Twisted" - Valerie June

Thought I had your number

Stuck in my phone

Oh, but I can't find it nowhere

And besides, it's been too long

Borrowed time and ain't got a dime

Peter pay Paul

Oh, but still I hear that whistle blow

Saying, you can get through it all

Oh, I got no place in this old world

Shackle bound, bound, bound

But still I roam

Said I got no place in this old world

Shackle bound, bound, bound

But still I roam

Running from my family

Drifting from my home

Thinking not of who I am

Thinking only of where I'm going

Young with all the answers

Oh, I found out on my own

That everything I thought I knew

It was a lie twined and twisted true

Oh, I got no place in this old world

Shackle bound, bound, bound

But still I roam

Said I got no place in this old world

Shackle bound, bound, bound

But still I roam

Oh, I got no place in this old world

Shackle bound, bound, bound

But still I roam

"Red Bird" - Tall Heights

Massachusetts Turnpike, red and slow on either side

Heading for a town I'll never know, just south of dignified

Did I hear you on the radio saying, "Keep your mind"

Flee for me, Red Bird

Carrie said a thread should not be sewn in compromise

That would be a cancer of the bone, back where you keep a spine

Timid, I could never fake a known, not in my eyes

Flee for me, Red Bird

Red Bird

Bird

Red Bird

Find me a blue piece of sky

Red Bird

Mother Mayday burned into the air a better light

Friday rain confounded up the word behind a crashing flight

In the end we're only crying out, "Help me tonight"

Flee for me, Red Bird

Before a soul can hate, it's gotta love with every cell

Mission of a careless broken heart begets a living hell

Carrie never paid for all the love she'd never sell

Flee for me, Red Bird

Flee for me, Red Bird

Flee for me, Red Bird

Red Bird

Bird

Red Bird

Bird

Red Bird

Bird

Red Bird

"Unbelievable Dream"

Laura Mvula

Together let's take the long road

Be part of a story to be told

Together let's take a long road

Just sit and wonder

Unbelievable dream

Don't wrap it up and throw it away

Unbelievable dream

Out of the blue can it be true

Out of reach it might seem

Upon a cloud a color of doubt

Unbelievable dream

Don't throw it away

Sunshine bright on the mountain

Impossible beauty to be found

We'll fly higher than ever

Open your eyes wide

Unbelievable dream

Don't wrap it up and throw it away

Unbelievable dream

Out of the blue can it be true

Together let's take a long road

Together let's take a long road

Together let's take a long road

Together let's take a long road home

Unbelievable dream

Don't wrap it up and throw it away

Unbelievable dream

Out of the blue can it be true

Out of reach it might seem

Upon a cloud a color of doubt

Unbelievable dream

Don't throw it away

"I Will Always Return" - Bryan Adams

https://youtu.be/_bzuqlk5Vlw

web-zoo-pandas-x-2400.jpg

I hear the wind call your name

The sound that leads me home again

It sparks up the fire

A flame that still burns

To you, I will always return

I know the road is long

But where you are is home

Wherever you stay

I'll find the way

I'll run like the river

I'll follow the sun

I'll fly like an eagle

To where I belong

I can't stand the distance

I can't dream alone

I can't wait to see you

Yes, I'm on my way home

Now I know it's true

My every road leads to you

And in the hour of darkness

Your light gets me through

You run like the river

You shine like the sun

You fly like an eagle

Yeah, you are the one

I've seen every sunset

And with all that I've learned

It's to you

I will always, always return

Jackson C. Frank - Blues Run the Game

Catch a boat to England baby

Maybe to Spain

Wherever I have gone

Wherever I've been and gone

Wherever I have gone

The blues are all the same

Send out for whiskey baby

Send out for gin

Me and room service honey

Me and room service babe

Me and room service

Well we're living a life of sin

When I'm not drinkin' baby

You are on my mind

When I'm not sleepin' honey

When I ain't sleepin' mama

When I'm not sleepin'

You know you'll find me crying

Try another city baby

Another town

Wherever I have gone

Wherever I've been and gone

Wherever I have gone

The blues come followin' down

Livin' is a gamble baby

Lovin's much the same

Wherever I have played

Whenever I've thrown them dice

Wherever I have played

The blues have run the game

Maybe tomorrow honey

Some place down the line

I'll wake up older

Some place down the line

I'll wake up older

So much older mama

I'll wake up older

And I'll just stop all my trying

Catch a boat to England baby

Maybe to Spain

Wherever I have gone

Wherever I've been and gone

Wherever I have gone

The blues are all the same

"I'm so Tired of it All"

Merle Haggard

https://youtu.be/t2GBXIA7DlI

All my life I've been so lonesome

If happiness came, I missed the call

All of my dreams have been so aimless

And now I'm so tired of it all

In life and love I've been a loser

And too many tears had to fall

And nothing but broken vows and promises

And now I'm so tired of it all

All I ever loved I lost

Helpless I watched my castles fall

Tomorrow brings nothing but sorry

And now, I'm so tired of it all

From here I know I'll soon be going

And no one will miss me after all

And up there I know I'll find contentment

Cause down here I'm so tired of it all

"No Blue Sky" - The Thorns

Cold outside

But I don't blame the weather

No one's calling

No one's at the door

But I can't stay inside all day

Blinds pulled to the floor

[CHORUS:]

There's no blue sky in my town lately

Everybody looks at the ground

And where I am is making me hazy

But the sun never looked so pretty going down

It ain't right

It feels like forever

So many changes

I stopped keeping score

But if you want me

You know where I will be

I don't get out much anymore

:-[

[CHORUS]

Blue sky

Come find me

I'm waiting

The sun never looked so pretty

The sun never looked so pretty

The sun never looked so pretty

Cloud and rain

Smoke and smog here

Won't see too many stars tonight

Biding time waiting on a sunset

One last glance of gold

Then goodbye

There's no blue sky in my town lately

Everybody looks at the ground

And where I am is making me hazy

But the sun never looked so pretty going down

There's no blue sky in my town lately

Everybody looks at the ground

I've been distracted and going half crazy

But the sun never looked so pretty going down

"Low Road"

Grace Potter And The Nocturnals

I lost everything

I fell out of a daydream

At the door of a long lost friend

And I cried aloud

Without an inch of pride

I knew I had reached the end

An old and lonely man

Saw me sitting on the curb

He reached out and took my hand

He said I know your song

And I know your name

And there was a time that I felt the same

[CHORUS:]

But it's a low, low road

You've gotta roll down

Before you find your way, my friend

And it's a high, high hill

You've gotta climb up

Before you get to the top again

I held on so dearly

To the wrong things in my life

But now I see so clearly

I was walking into my own knife

You've got to get up off that street

Stop looking at your feet

And take a hold of something real

And this old man took my hand

He looked at me and said

Little girl, I understand

[CHORUS]

And there was a time

That I thought that I knew it all

And there was a place

That I thought I could call my own

But it all came crashing down

And I looked around

And I knew that things

Would never be the same

Low, low road

You've gotta roll down

Before you find your way, my friend

And it's a high, high hill

You've gotta climb up

Before you get to the top again

But it's a low, low road

You've gotta roll down

Before you find your way, my friend

And it's a high, high hill

You've gotta climb up

Before you get to the top again

Because it's a low, low road

You've gotta roll down

It's a low, low road

"Tomorrow Robins Will Sing"

Stevie Wonder

Robi Kahakalau

Now where do I start to make the point that I'll be making

To most efficiently use the time that I'll be taking

With the clear understanding

That every ticking second is precious to us all

But if you let me bend your ear, listen up you will hear

Not just what I say but every word that I am singing

You wake in the morning from a dream with spirits dope hype

Though your real life condition is far from being alright

Your love has wronged you

Your money's gone

You've lost your home

And everything you own

But before you do something major extreme

I've got one simple thing for you to take along with you

As you go on your lonely way

[CHORUS:]

Tomorrow robins will sing

Tomorrow robins will sing

It really is no big thing

Cause tomorrow robins will sing

Tomorrow blue jays will fly

The weather forecasts clear skies

So dry those tears from your eyes

Cause tomorrow blue jays will fly

You borrow a dime

To call up a friend that you could rely on

They put the phone down

You hear in the background

"Tell him I'm not home"

Your face is broken, your throat is choking

You hang up the phone in disbelief

And to make matters worse

You can remember you were the first and only one

To come to him when lonely was his everyday

But if what you did came from your heart and not expecting

Then you should not waste one heartbeat on any regretting

The saying's older than old yet true for today

As when it was made to be told

As you sew so shall you reap

And if you've treated life sweet

Your blessing's been ordained and already on its way

[CHORUS]

Today is the tomorrow you were so worried about

Looking over your yesterday

The clouds are gone and the sun is out

And everything has worked out, irie okay

Tomorrow robins will sing

Tomorrow robins will sing

It really is no big thing

Cause tomorrow robins will sing

Tomorrow blue jays will fly

The weather forecasts clear skies

So dry those tears from your eyes

Cause tomorrow blue jays will fly

"Counting Mercies" - Jann Arden

1ac76687f15468764e45e149efa22149--tante-pandas.jpg

What we’ve been through

All of it

It goes to prove

How much we fit

We’ve made mistakes

We failed a lot

But here we are

Look what we’ve got

Count the mercy

Count the pain

Summer’s running

From my shame

All the blessings

All the falls

Count the days

When we almost had it all

Nobody said

That life was fair

You do your best

And hope like hell

You grit your teeth

And bite your tongue

You hold your heart

Out to the sun

And count your mercies

Count your pain

Summer’s running

From my shame

All the blessings

All the falls

Count the days

When we almost had it all

If this is it

And now it’s done

I’m more than glad

For all I’ve won

To feel your love

Has been my life

I hope you know

That I’ll be fine

I’m counting mercies

Count the pain

Summer’s running

From my shame

All the blessings

All the falls

Count the days

When we almost had it all

"Red River"

Reuben And The Dark

Feel the road

It's cold

And do they still steal

On a highway of tears

And the sorrow shows

Where the scars don't heal

On a highway of tears

On a highway of tears

Hands and sheets

That don't come clean

On a red riverbed

I heard the water's song

And saw the river's son

Carry her away, my dear

Carry her away, my dear

Hear the words

A broken heart can only say

Feel so many kinds of pain

And you are haunted

I can see it in your eyes

Like a mother

Afraid of her own child

Carry her away, my dear

Carry her away, my dear

Carry her away

:(  :'(  :(
