Possible drug treatment for PTSD?

[...]

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Here are two links to a study on how propanolol may be beneficial for those suffering from PTSD. I am assuming that at least some people here started on benzos to deal with PTSD. This may be an alternative option. Interesting to me in any case hope you will find it interesting as well

Hi John  Thanks for links, I found it useful, as I am on propranolol for anxiety, which startedout as stress, which Ive been on for I think 3 years, I did find it helpful, but am not now sure how I would be without it, Ive been told they are not really addictive but obviously I would get fast heart beat without it, anyway they are slow release capsules so cant cut down slowly and also I have to taper off my diazepam first and then deal with the propranolol, but the links were very interesting, I do still remember what Ive been through but am now able to deal with my w/d, cos reading other peoples experiences I know now Im not going mad it is the diazepam Thanks Pauline  ;)

Hi Pauline,

One thing I should point out about propanolol and diazepam,

Inderal+ Benzodiazepines:

"Propranolol саn inhibit the metabolism оf Diazepam, resulting іn increased concentrations of Diazepam аnd its metabolites. Diazepam does nоt alter the pharmacokinetics оf propranolol."

This is something you may want to discuss with your doctor.
