Should I try to switch to diazepam?

I am currently taking between 2mg and 2.5mg/ day of Clonazepam and 15mg of Zopiclone for sleep along with other medications.  I am looking to start tapering the clonazepam first. Should I ask my Psychiatrist to switch to Diazepam and stabilize before I begin my taper?

For me switching to V was the best move I could have taken.  Combined Tem and X and carried on.  Now Im using liquid and it's easy to measure as I taper.
