Looking for a benzo-aware psychiatrist/MD in India (Bangalore)

Does any one know of a psychiatrist/MD in Bangalore or India who is aware of the ashton manual and benzo withdrawals? I am on benzos for about a year and would like to work with a provider to safely taper down. Thanks.

You could ask your own doctor!  Copy a few relevant pages from the Ashton and ask if she will support a slow taper.  I hope she helps, slow is the best way with these drugs.  You will get plenty of encourgaement and support here to help you through it.

I talked to my pdoc at St John's Hospital, Bangalore. She is aware of the Ashton manual but wants me to taper Etizolam without switching to Diazepam.

Etizolam has an awfully short half life, a taper off of this medication can be done but you’ll most likely deal with interdose withdrawal.  How often do you dose now and what is your dose?

 

Does she support a slow taper as outlined in this document?  Colorado Consortium Benzodiazepine Deprescribing Guidance

@Pamster, I dose 8 times a day each time taking .125mg totalling 1mg/day of this poison pill.
