waking every hour with anxiety - help!

Recently my sleep has deteriorated. I now wake every hour with a jolt of anxiety. I do end up with 5-6 hours of broken sleep. I had been waking only 2-3 times with no anxiety, so I am not sure what changed. 1/2 Unisom doesn't seem to help anymore and leaves me groggy and depressed. Mirtazapine 1.65mg is all I can take, which helps but leaves me with a depressive hangover all the next day. Trazadone even 12.5mg gives me a stuffed up nose. Melatonin 0.3mg doesn't do much. Valerian and other herbals don't touch it.

 

Any other thoughts?

I have that too, waking up with adrenaline rushes. All I found that helped was breathing meditations to engage the parasympathetic NS, and calm down the sympathetic NS.  I found that when I took vitamin C supplementation (even low doses) this got much worse.  Better after about a week of stopping the supplements.
