[Or...]
I have been trying unsuccessfully for two years to withdraw from Lorazepam. I told my doctor. She said I could taper off in one week. That has not been the case. I am down to half Lorazepam at night. And will move to a quarter in a few days. The withdrawal symptoms are very scary indeed but I must get out of this trap. Tension headaches and a feeling of imbalance are very uncomfortable, but I intend to stay on this path until I am free of this addiction.
[Co...]
Hello @[Or...]. Welcome to BenzoBuddies. I have a few questions for you. For how long have been taking Lorazepam? What was your daily dose at the start of the taper? When did you start your taper? What dose pills do you use?
[Or...]
I have been taking Lorazepam since 2017. I had been taking 1mg daily. The doctor recently said I should increase it to one and a half. I did it for a few days and stopped. I started in 2022….Around July. Then just for a week tapering as directed by the doctor. She then switched me to Valium. Bad business. I am now tapering slowly on my own. Thanks for your comments. It’s really very hard. Uncomfortable…….the withdrawal symptoms.
[Co...]
So, you take Valium now instead? If so, for how long and at what dose?
[Or...]
Hello Colin, Thanks again for your concern. I do not take Valium any more. I am currently taking half/Lorazepam at nights. Soon going down to quarter.
[Co...]
@[Or...] Have you informed your doctor about the withdrawal effects and asked if you taper off more slowly? And what dose pills do you use?
[Or...]
My doctor told me to taper off in one week. So, I pay no attention to that advice anymore. Like I have said, it’s Lorezepam

You're tapering too fast. 1/4 cut is way too much to cut at one time. Please consider only a 5 to 10 % cut ok. Ns
[Or...]
Really? I will follow your advice. Thankyou.
[Or...]
This is for Peppe. Thanks. I’m taking half of a Lorazepam pill. I was taking one whole one before.
[Ka...]
Hello @[Or...] it’s best to reduce your dose slowly & steadily. https://www.benzoinfo.com/benzodiazepine-tapering-strategies/ Sadly, doctors give incorrect advice. The link here will give you comprehensive info. Lorazepam has a short half life & so swopping to diazepam is usually recommended instead but that has been tried. Go in careful increments & watch for any symptoms that may arise. Edited April 20 by [Ka...]
