[Li...]
This is an excellent podcast, @[Ka...]. Thank you so much for sharing it with us! Although the focus is on deprescribing antidepressants, much of what Dr. Horowitz shared also applies to deprescribing benzodiazepines, including what causes withdrawal symptoms and why they can be so varied and long-lasting, risk factors for a challenging withdrawal, and key principles of tapering. I also enjoyed learning more about the history of the Maudsley Prescribing Guidelines and the origin of the phrase “It’s Bedlam in here.”
[Ka...]
Thanks @[Li...] yes, the history is interesting of The Maudsley, Bethlem & origin of bedlam. Facts from the podcast were equally revealing. In the UK, until 1998 stopping CT was the norm! Then guidance was reduce by half then a quarter but there was no science - it seems pretty much guess work. Staggering that by our 40s we will all probably reach a point of clinical depression. I thought this podcast would follow same format as others yet it was different & informative. & another book is in progress covering antipsychotics.
