Has anyone here tried photobiomodulation or low light laser therapy?

I'm curious if anyone here has experience with photobiomodulation, otherwise called low light laser therapy? 

I have been in a rough patch recently with lots of nerve pain (burning skin, joint pain) and I had a brief treatment with PBM this weekend. The following day I had my best day in months and still feel mostly okay today. Now I'm curious and wondering if anyone has benefited from this. It's one of those things that feels like it could be unproven or worse that it could do more damage. So that's why I'm looking for the experiences of other folks who have gone or are going through withdrawal.
