Xanax tapering withdrawal

Hi.  I'm currently tapering off xanax xr.  I was up to 3mg daily about 6 months ago.  Now I am at 1mg (.5 morning,  .5 nightly).  Have been experiencing horrible withdrawal symptoms from the beginning of the taper.  I've been on xanax for about 7 years.

Congratulations on getting so low in dose but it sounds like you’ve paid a heavy price.  We typically suggest reducing your dose by about 5-10% every couple of weeks but what seems to work better is using your symptoms to guide your reductions.  In your case, I’d say, it might be time to slow things down.

 

I’m surprised to know you only dose twice a day, more of our Xanax users will dose up to 4.
