Klonopin, Valium, Gabapentin

As the title suggests...

I started with the clonazepam and continued that for a year and a half. Then I asked a doc to switch me to diazepam to help me taper. This same doctor recommended I take a lot of Gabapentin to help with w/d symptoms, so I did - 3600mg. I jumped off of the valium (30mg a day at the most) after a year and a half taper and it's been 44 days. Migraines, neck spasms trippy visuals, and oh yeah... ******* TERROR (I have a new, conjured terminal illness every day)... pretty much run my life now. I've cut back on the gabapentin (down to 2800 mg) but I want to get off completely.

I know this isn't a gabapentin forum but nonetheless I supposed a lot of people here would have some experience with it. Any advice or encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hi Embassy005   Welcome to Benzobuddies

We are glad you found us, we do have members tapering off gabapentin.  Well done on your benzo taper,  withdrawal symptoms can take a long time to settle down, you have to try and distract yourself from the symptoms.  Many of us thought we had a terminal illness.  Maybe hold off your gabapentin taper for a while.  Take a look around the forum, post questions our members are very supportive.

Check out The Ashton Manual,  It is a great resource for understanding the effect benzo’s have on our body, It also has a list of common symptoms

Here are a few links to resources:

1988  started 1 mg per day Clonazepam for anxiety

2010 cold turkey with major withdrawals, went back on 1 mg

2021 Cut down to .5 too fast, woke up w/total numbness in left side of body lasting 3 days. Went back on full dose of 1 mg as MD suggested.

3/25/23 dry cut to .75 then found bennzobuddies for help

4/25/23  will begin DLMT, Water Titration Method taper plan, if I've stabilized on the .75
