started taking Zoloft and seems like my benzo w/d symptoms are worse.  Is this possible?  Is it only for the first few weeks while the a/d is being raised to a "therapeutic" level.  Please tell me that my first sentence is true.  that the antidepressants can make your benzo feelings worse

feeling panicky for some reason

Hi Mary,

Many folks have tried A/D's while in benzo withdrawal, only to realize they feel worse.  All bets are off when dealing with this crap, what normally helps, now hurts, so you're not the only person to have found this out.

Things might get better, but they might not.  Don't you just hate the vague answers I give?  Sorry about that, but you know how it goes around here, we all have different experiences.

yes,

you would make a great politician just talk around the topic and never give a straight answer

so yes or no question has a "who knows" as an answer? :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

What about after a few weeks, always hear about waiting a few weeks on the a/d.

and yes, feel free to give another around about answer    >:D

I can state without fear of contradiction that it IS possible.  Did you just start on the Zoloft?

Hello Beeper,

yes, on Zoloft just started;  Idea was to get off benzo and use Zoloft instead because it helps with anxiety and then my brain would be clear enough to leart

Hi Mary

I check with my private Benzo source/White Coat. Supposedly some A/D medicines do increase anxiety in people who already have anxiety. Zoloft is not one of those, rather it is often given to help with anxiety. But as Pam said all bets are off when dealing with Benzos!

Hope you feel better soon Mary! See you at Sea!

Dear Enemy/Mary

My easily fooled White Coat/Benzo source is out taking cookies to my old Cell Mates at the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility at Wilsonville Oregon.

I will ask if things get worse before they get better when she returns. Up date: Coffee Creek visit went well. "Never heard of or observed any increased anxiety when starting Zoloft due to Zoloft"

White Coat.

However my Benzo tainted thoughts on your question lead me to speculate that your anxiety is typical Benzo withdrawal. I my self am dealing with increased anxiety as I drop my benzo dose.

Not that I have been anxiety free ever since I started this Bad Trip. Maybe I should talk to my attorney about a Civil suite for the anxiety that your War on me has caused?

I have tried all kinds of over the counter stuff, herbs (no not Weed), even a prescription sleep medicine. Right or wrong I have come to the conclusion that any thing that temporarily makes us feel better (helps the GABA stuff) ultimately makes our withdrawal longer and or worse! Just my little Teakettle thought.

Ashton did say that if you have clinical depression then anti depressant medicines are better than not. Seems like the less stuff we put in our bodies the easier it is for our Brains to heal.

P.S Hope my new Nuclear Attack Submarine has not added to your anxiety! Well at least not a whole lot!

Hi Mary,

When I was in withdrawals, I decided to stop taking my Lexepro, wanted to get all drugs out of me.  That turned out badly, so instead of going back on it, I chose to start Prozac since it was cheaper and I'd been on it years before the Lexepro.  It was horrible and I was nauseous for the whole 5 weeks I kept on taking it.  I finally switched back to Lexepro and the darkness of the depression and the nausea finally went away.  I guess what I'm trying to tell you is my body hated the Prozac while I was in withdrawals, even though previously I'd been able to take it.  All bets are off when we're going through this and if your body hates it, no amount of time will make it better.
