Thanks bubba gump. I'm glad it's gone away for you - it's such a debilitation symptom  :(

These symptoms do make us sound crazy a lot of the time - I don't think many of us would believe it either if we were not going through it  :idiot:

Hi Folks.  I'm a 24/7 Floaty Boater  :o  and just stumbled upon this thread.

I'd love to get updates. Any improvements in this s/x?  Status quo?

Also, does anyone happen to "rock and roll" in time with their heartbeat?  Mine is pulsatile and most noticeable when I sit or lie down, less pronounced when I'm standing/walking.

Thanks so much!

I sure wish we could hear from someone who had this and it went away and how long it took.

It takes all my muscle strength to just stand up when I have it.

Mama

well, mine is pretty much gone except when i'm laying down i can kinda feel my brain undulating a little but for the most part it is gone here at the 24 month mark. i know that's a very long time but i do consider myself a rare and extreme case since i've done about 12 c/t's in my life and have always been on pretty large dose's of benzos - mostly klonopin. i always either rapid tapered or did c/t and am majorly kindling this time around. i do not think it will last this long for you folks! but i can say that for the most part -- the undulating (rocky boat) sensation is gone.

abcd,

the undulating symptom definitely has it in time and beat with heartbeat, pulse rate. it's almost like a brain beating in time with everything else.

i had the most weirdest and strangest symptom yesterday morning that only happened yesterday that was a part of the undulating symptom. i wasn't undulating like i had been but i could feel my brain had a sensation of going up and then going down. when my brain felt like it was going up, i would get really exhausted almost like i would pass out. and then when it went down a second later, i would feel okay and rested. i'm telling you, this was BIZARRE!

Hey Pretty!  Oh the joys of w/d!!!  How many times did that brain jump thing happen?  Was it just once or a few times in a row?  Hope it was a one-off for you and that it hasn't re-occurred.  I've had the head jolts (right at the back of the head) about 1/2 dozen times but compared with the constant rocky boat, I don't even give these other s/x a second thought, the rocky boat is just all-consuming and so very debilitating.

Wish others in this thread would also respond.  Please Buddies, can you give a little update, I know there are many others also in this situation.  Even if you still have the s/x and you don't want to respond for fear of putting us on a downer, it's okay, please respond!  :)

I'm having a really tough morning too and I wish someone who also had this symptom & it went away for them within a few months time chime on and talk to us :-(

I get scared when people chime on and its taking them one to two years to get rid of this symptom :-(

No, no, Pretty, I'm actually so happy you did chime in! All I care about is that it does eventually go away. And as you say, you are an extreme case, so it just gives me such hope, actually!  :-*  Didn't I read somewhere that you said Baylissa's lasted for about 6 mths? But her's also went away 100%!

So keep thinking positive, LovingMother!  I've seen a lot of people here who have been free of this s/x within a few short months.  Do your heart palps also jive with the boatiness?

Yep! Heart palps and anxiety. when I'm dealing with heightened anxiety makes my balance more off in the boat like sensation worse :-(

no, i won't chime in on the withdrawal section anymore unless i can feel that someone understands that rare case means exactly that-- an exception!! especially when someone has been on large dose's for 25 years compared to less than a year. i will go back and check emails from Baylissa about what she said but i think it was longer than 6 months. and she is now healed a little after 3 years. :)

This floaty boat sensation is driving me crazy. I have it all day every day. Feels like I'm constantly on a rocking boat. Doesn't matter if I'm sitting, standing or lying down. If I'm in a public place it gets worse and I feel as if i'm going to loose control or get dizzy.

I need reassurance from other people suffering  from this. Did anyone have it bad and no longer have it now?

This really sucks  :(

sorry you have this one. I had it too pretty bad. I had it even in bed. It felt like the bed was going up and down. I RARELY get it anymore and when I do its super fleeting. Yours will go away too. Give it time. Its not dangerous, its just a pain in the butt.

it will go away soon. it's a withdrawal symptom in and of itself to be obsessed and focused on one particular symptom or when symptoms are going to go away. just focus on the overall goal of feeling balanced and well again. :)

Re-visiting this thread to see if anyone has had relief yet??? Close to 17 months out and the pressure and pushing and pulsing and rocking and churning and floating are consuming me. I feel like a big blow-up doll on a car lot floating around above the ground and ready to explode from the pressure!!! It is minute to minute torment!!!

When I lay in bed I cannot feel the bed beneath me, I float above it bobbing around. There is so much pressure in my head it feels like my jaw will crack and face will explode, walking feels like I m dragging dead weight through waist deep water......forget picking up my legs to walk up stairs.

Anyone to commiserate with or to offer hope?

Very grateful for this thread. I really didn't have much of it in taper and acute. Now that I am I. month 10 it seems that every s/x I didn't have early on ( as well as many that I did have) is getting in one last huurah...dizziness that increases with motion....or not...causes nausea and just to make things perfect is delivered with momentary panic...also d/r. and eye twitching...for goodness sakes ...month 10? ....really?....this one is tough will be glad to see it go...

...Hold on. ( literally) everyone...eventually this will go away...not soon enough...coop

Gardenia, does your come and go or is it constant? Mine is 24/7 every second. It goes from slow motion bobbing to a fast pulsating.

Coop, I know what you mean! I got boatiness in my 4th month and vertigo in my 14th! Nothing new since then but what I have is unrelenting! I am in do much agony I cannot put it in words.

HopefulOne...that is terrible. Do you take any anti vertigo meds for it I have heard that Zofran is very effective. Month 14!...Your post is reassuring to me. I couldn't figure it out. Do you get the panic. surge and heart flutter with it...I was also so tired and weak ( not at all my norm). Now, after reading the posts on this thread I see that they can all go hand in hand. explains a lot! ......

....Are you feeling nearly healed in other ways...hope so......coop

Coop, I don't take any meds for vertigo. I saw an ear specialist and had vestibular therapy and it was not suggested. To be honest, I wouldn't take one anyway.....all prescriptions scare me now. My vertigo is positional, meaning I only get it in certain positions, which are...... when I am getting up from laying and turning as I lay. It started suddenly one morning in May with vomiting.

I have it ALL he time so don't get things "with it", but I had heart palps from month 7 to month 15, I have not had the heart flutter you speak of. I have not had panic attacks, but near panic with intense fear and breathing issues. I also get the surges but they seem to come when the head pressure gets bad. I actually feel my brain sizzle, pulsate and churn, it feels swollen.

Sorry to say I feel no where near healed. The weakness, trembling, jerking, chills and fatigue from earlier days are gone but have been replaced with the boatiness, pressure and the anxiety which hit hard in month 3. Overall, the suffering  has not lessened if that makes sense. In fact, the earlier days were easier in a way even though I was bed-ridden because the boatiness and pressure is near unbearable now!! I have to rock constantly to offset the feeling, it is exhausting!

My worst symptoms are deep DR, depression, pressure, boatiness and labored breathing. I also have tinnitus, buzzing, numbness some fear and a host of other little things. I have seen the heart palps go and the anxiety has lessened overall over the last month though it can still hit pretty hard. Basically, I am still in extreme survival mode, no sense of relief.

I am hoping I get the big break in symptoms many have seen between months 18-24.....that seems like when many if not most experience major healing.

hopeful,

feeling the you are now especially now that i am back in a bad wave. i had the boaty sensation start to dissipate after a very long time of living with it every single moment but lately it has returned. not to the extreme that it was, but definitely more noticeable after it was starting to leave. it is truly exhausting. i am also still in extreme survival mode with no sense of relief. but i have to remember that i've had a few partial windows with some relief. you can't recall that when in a wave again. i too feel my brain sizzle, pulsate, churn and feels swollen and sore sometimes. i even have scabs all along my hairline and temples almost as if i've had a full on massacare inside my brain which i guess i did. this is truly a brain injury that is just taking it's sweet time to heal i guess. i don't know how much longer i can hang on sometimes but then i get a PM from someone that gives me hope and strength again. what a process. can't wait until it's done. there's got to be a done date at some point, eh?

Hi Sunlight,

I had the boat-y stuff really intensely for a long time, and it gradually faded for me in months 3 and 4.  I recently had to go back on a benzo during an emergency, but before I went back on it in month 5-ish (I can't remember the timing of everything right now), the boat-y stuff was pretty much all gone.  I hope you start to feel better soon.  :)

Wow - I can't believe this boaty feeling is affecting so many people.

I'm over 10 months out now and it has improved some what but it's still very much there, 24/7.

It seems to be a symptom that really takes its time to leave us.

I hope all you guys start to get relief from it really soon - hang in there everyone, we'll get there

So sorry, Hopeful.  I'm with you, still no change for me, I'm afraid!  Like you, 24/7.  It is truly tormenting!

For some reason, if I take a Flexeril (muscle relaxant) it temporarily eases and slows down the flow of the sensation.  Which keeps bringing me back to thinking mine is somehow neuromuscular??!

Praying for relief for all of us!  :smitten:
