Strange Red Rash Under Ribcage with Purple ThreadVeins ???

[Wo...]

Hi All

Just wondering does anyone else have any strange Red Rash with Purple bits that look like little threadveins?

I only got this rash after coming off, I have been checked for Lyme and all known infectious diseases plus every blood test known to man and all came back negative...

Sometimes the rash is accompanied with intense pain under the right Rib Cage,

My doctor and the skin specialist I was referred to are baffled by it and all he could offer was steroid cream which I refuse to take..

It was obviously caused by benzos or withdrawal as there is no other reason for it, nothing makes it better or worse it always there and always looks the same, but when I shower it looks more noticeably red..

If anyone has this . had this can you respond please????

Thanks All

Hi Woofs: In response to your post I did a Search for "rash".  Wow, are there ever a lot of posts about rash. Rashes of every description on every conceivable part of the body. Rashes with blisters, blotches, bleeding, etcetera. My thought on this is that the rash is likely benzo related since you've been checked out. Why does this happen, I wonder? Is it possible that the sensitized CNS has given all these people a temporary allergy to something like a food or their laundry products? Or is it just strictly a benzo sensitizing the skin thing? I don't know. Reading through the old posts, however, makes it apparent to me that this is not uncommon. Some people were able to clear up their rashes with different types of creams - some benadryl cream, some diaper rash cream, some steroid cream, and others using OTC creams. Others just let the rash resolve on its own.

I hope this has been a bit helpful. At least it is not unheard of in benzo w/d / recovery. Many posts cite that the doctors and specialists were stumped, so the origin, in my opinion, has strictly to do with benzos.

Thank you NewMoon

The rash is not on the outside of the skin though, it looks like discolouration under the skin, bit like looking at water and seeing algae underneath, when I put mu hand on it the red goes away but the purple does not.

I wonder are the purple threadmarks gaba receptors trying to regenerate, I know we got lots of gaba receptors in this area s o its strange this rash appeared there during withdrawal, it started first month off and I am now 11 months 23 days off so its been there a long time, I hope when im healed that it goes away as its unsightly and after a shower its very angry looking.

My doctor says most skin rashes appear on the skin surface but this is under the skin, feels and looks like there is something there that should not be there, its very weird looking and when I get the intense right rib pain it looks even more rashy looking.

Most of the posts talk about skin rashes but none mention that the rash is more of a discolouration under the skin surface?

I appreciate your help NewMoon, if anyone else out there has anything similar please join in?

Cheers
