Iron Infusion anyone?

It's been so long since I have been on here that the whole forum has changed so I don't know if I am even posting this in the right place. 

I am 5 years off and due to a giardia infection almost two years ago, my gut is screwed up. I have undigested food and dysbiosis, candida, and problems with absorption. I treated the giardia naturally but still not sure if gone but I am severely anemic and no amount of eating more beef and iron rich foods has fixed it. They are recommending iron infusions but I am terrified. I react to EVERYTHING. I can't even take more than 1/2 beef liver supplement because the B12 is too much for my system. Any help please?

I am getting scheduled now.

They will be using Venofer which looks like iron sucrose so hopefully that is safe enough. I have been anemic for too long now and the oral stuff just isn't cutting it. Scared to death.

Did you have Yours done. I had mine done feel terrible

I have had four infusions and one to go.

My hematologist went with Venofer at my request because I picked the one with the least ingredients. He started out at 50mg for the first, then 100mg, then the last 2 have been at 200mg. The first few times I had bad headaches and post-infusion flu but it did not seem to rev my benzo symptoms up. What has been your experience?

I had mine done and it has been hell since. I didn’t sleep for 4 nights straight went into a massive wave. But I was in a window before hand. It’s been around 2.5 weeks it settled at day 7 and I cut then so I will keep you posted when things settle in a week

Did they put any other meds in with your infusion? What kind did you go with? I am sorry to hear of your reaction and it sounds like you are still tapering as well.

Hey I’m not sure which iron supplement they gave me I can find out, but I recall it being 500mgs I could be wrong. How are you feeling now I hope your ok yes I’m still tapering are you 5 years out and now fully healed what were you taking and how long?

I am in a hellish protracted withdraw and not healed at all but don't let me scare you. I am rare case here. Xanax 1mg for 5 months. I didn't react to iron infusion. Hope you stabilize soon
