Long Haulers

Has anyone knowingly been exposed to mold and or mildew, and wondered if it is contributing to long time symptoms??

Hi Fellow Long Haulers.  I am just curious as to whether anyone has found that they have been exposed to mold and or mildew, which coincided with withdrawal from benzos, and manifested some of the same symptoms?  The reason I ask is that I continue to have some pretty bad waves at 42 months, mainly with terrible head pain and headaches, but many, many tests show nothing wrong.  I just had a major water leak in my home, causing pretty significant damage leaving me with wet carpets, and damaged walls and floor boards.  Prior to this event, my doctor suggested I have my house checked for mold and mildew, as my husband has been having more headaches, and both of us have been having strong allergy and sinus issues……sneezing, coughing, and phlegm.  I had a highly recommended mold remediation company do a thorough check of the house from attic to crawlspace, at which time two types of mold were found in the attic and there is some major dampness in the crawlspace.

I told the company’s owner about the long time headaches and other health issues, and he said that some sensitive individuals can become quite ill with long term exposure to molds and mildew.  I live in an all cedar wood house, surrounded by tall trees and mulch surrounding it.  Perfect setting for mold to grow.  We had lots of rotted boards taken off last year and replaced with new boards, which makes me wonder if some mold was released through nooks and crannies into the house?

I am trying to be realistic and not get my hopes up, but it would be such a relief if the mold eradication and preventative EPA measures that will be put into place next week, will see me and my husband return to good health.  We spent three days house sitting for friends two weeks ago, and I had no symptoms.  Also, when I have been in the hospital, I had no benzo withdrawal symptoms!  This is why my doctor wants to rule out mold as a contributor to my health issues.

I hope all of you are feeling the healing!🙏😜

GG

You do not want to go down the mold rabbit hole, I did. I was told I was being exposed everywhere and that people need to be unemployed,  and homeless  leave all their possessions to live literally like the bubble boy to get better. You can't even be near your family or friends because they can re expose you as it's on their bodies and clothes (as most normal people mold doesn't effect them). I politely told the "group" that was an extreme and radical approach and could mentally do more harm to someone and is not realistic for most...well I got threatened and lectured by more than 1 person. I was told unfortunately that was the only way to healing, and that I was ignorant and "tone deaf" to people suffering. Me (of all people) ignorant to people being chronically ill? Uh ok then.

I am doing this at the request of my doctor to rule out health issues that may or may not be related to mold in my home.  The mold remediation company I will be using has done remediation projects in the Smithsonian Museum, hospitals, nursing and assisted living homes, and both commercial and residential properties.  They will wear the PPE uniforms and treat my home from top to bottom.  First they will eradicate the mold and then use green products to prevent the mold from reoccurring.  I don’t want mold growing in my home under any circumstances.

I wish you continued healing.

Good you are doing that, many cannot due to the $ cost (I don't believe it's covered under most homeowners insurance policies) and many people don't see it as toxic and unhealthy. Landlords won't bother with it and legally don't have to remediate or disclose it. Same with places of employment, I don't believe OSHA can legally intervene because of course in a "mainstream" world its not considered serious (unlike aspestas).

I just commented on your other post. I agree, mould is not a good thing to have in your home. However I also feel @[Su...] makes some good points too. Some of these groups such as the mould groups expect totally unrealistic things for some people. I’m in the middle. I feel mould should be treated and avoided if possible when compromised like this. I am taking steps to address damp in my environment. However, I don’t feel healing from mould has occurred if you have to live a totally restrictive life and can’t go anywhere with damp - it’s everywhere.

I didn't join them. Some were videos from mold specialists I saw on YouTube and a few subs were down my throat. Blocked their comments and avoided them. There are some topics of mold in Lyme Disease groups, again some members really wouldn't stop harping on the topic claiming they're the "experts".  Yea mold is a problem,  for some more than others,  nobody is denying that. But it gets to be too much mentally when the advice is unsolicited and you want to tell them to back off then they do it to others.
