Anybody successfully treated for SIBO and any consequences?

Hello All,

I was wondering if there is any experience out there around being treated for gut issues and SIBO?  I strongly suspect that is my root cause of recent issues and I know they treat it with antibiotics.  Very concerned about that but I need to address these gut issues.  Anyone have any information that I could use to weigh my options?  I appreciate the time to respond.  Cheers!

Hello, Deanna.  Interesting question and one I had asked myself several times when I was having lots of GI issues.   Before I had my endoscopy a month or so ago, I asked my doctor who would be performing the procedure if I could have SIBO.  He basically said he did not accept SIBO as a true “condition”, so we never discussed it again.  Both my colonoscopy and endoscopy were normal so I elected to just deal with intermittent gut issues. Several years ago I also went through a battery of gut related tests and all were normal.  I was diagnosed with IBS back in the seventies, most likely brought on by stress.

Are you now having any other symptoms other than the GI issues?   Has your nausea subsided?

Can you believe we were ready to write our success stories a few months ago?  Please let us heal as we have done the hard work to recover.   We are so ready for that final window🙏🙏🙏🙏

I am praying that the mold remediation work which is to be done next week relieves me of the awful headaches.  The mold company owner believes that they will be either totally eradicated or they will lessen in severity and duration.

Hugs,

GG

Thanks GG,

Yes GG, my nausea has improved but I'm left with significant intolerances to many foods and abdominal discomfort.  Strangest symptom is that when I have gut activity I also feel surging chemical anxiety.   It feels like the cortisol surges I used to get upon wakening and indeed the mornings are worse.  I can't help think this is somehow intertwined with withdrawal.

I know conventional docs don't believe in SIBO.  They just call it IBS but have no answers for it - just live with it.  This is not living if I can only eat a handful of foods.  Maybe this will resolve slowly over the next few months but I'd like to know what's going on.  So I'll consult with the GI specialist and ask my questions.  Some do test for SIBO now that's why I asked for a young Dr.  I've also signed up with a Functional Medicine practice but my initial consultation isn't until Dec 8th.

Good luck with the mold remediation!  May it CURE your headaches!

Hi!! I have the same anxiety with any gut movement. Did this improve for you? I’m a year out and still severe anxiety after meals or even drinking water. And did you treat the Sibo? I have hydrogen sibo

Kefir, a probiotic and natural antibiotic (you can purchase in your grocery) cured all of my gut issues, which were severe.

It’s consistency is similar to jogurt, but Kefir is unique in its antibiotic and other benefits.

Kefir is contraindicated with Sibo. I tried and made it much worse ;/

Probiotics seem to be recommended. Jen Swantowski (jenswanphd on YouTube) told me about Smidge in very small amounts…

I always assumed these issues started while the body was weak and inflammed and didnt always resolve on their own. The did for me and my condition seemed very extreme to me but I have little to compare it to. Do you opportunistic infections are the root of these things that so many people seem to experience?
