The Cult takes me back, @[Es...]. I don't know that song - I assume this to be later and I had stopped listening to them by then. I know The Cult more from the 'She Sells Sanctuary' period, nearly 40 years ago now! :o

Edit: Yeah - it was from few years later. I had largely moved on from that music scene by that stage.

It's yet another song about Edie Sedgwick, but written long after her death in 1971. The Cult recorded it in 1989. I'm forever fascinated by her and by how she had screwed up her life, which had every chance to be peaceful and reasonably good. This dark theme of self-destruction in people runs through my life, along with my own theme, probably because of C-PTSD. Before The Cult, Bob Dylan allegedly wrote about her in "Like a Rolling Stone" in 1965. His song "Just Like a Woman" (1965) is also about her. Edie Sedgwick came from a very wealthy family, but she probably had PTSD, cause of a very conflicted situation with her father. The fact that she left that family changed nothing. She was already programmed for self-destruction, which ultimately led her to booze and drugs. They killed her at 28, despite all her desperate attempts to eradicate toxicity from her life. A child raised with a toxic parent will reenact the whole situation their entire life, it's hopeless. I remember her beautiful face just before she became famous and was still treated for anorexia. All her later attempts at making herself beautiful only made her ugly and fake. She wanted to be someone else and it destroyed her...

"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."

 Friedrich Nietzsche

Heaven, a gateway I hope
Just like the feeling inside, it's no joke
And though it hurts me to treat you this way
Betrayed by words I'd never heard, too hard to say

Up, down, turn around
Please don't let me hit the ground
Tonight, I think I'll walk alone
I'll find my soul as I go home

Up, down, turn around
Please don't let me hit the ground
Tonight, I think I'll walk alone
I'll find my soul as I go home

Each way I turn I know I'll always try
To break this circle that's been placed around me
From time to time I find I've lost some need
That was urgent to myself, I do believe

Up, down, turn around
Please don't let me hit the ground
Tonight, I think I'll walk alone
I'll find my soul as I go home

Oh, you've got green eyes
Oh, you've got blue eyes
Oh, you've got grey eyes
Ooh, you've got green eyes
Oh, you've got blue eyes
Oh, you've got grey eyes

And I've never seen anyone quite like you before
No, I've never met anyone quite like you before

Bolts from above hit the people down below
People in this world, we have no place to go
Thoughts from above hit the people down below
People in this world, we have no place to go
Thoughts from above hit the people down below

Oh, it's the last time
Oh, it's the last time
Oh, it's the last time
Oh, it's the last time
Oh, it's the last time (Starbucks' Java Chip Frappuccino 🧋🤦🏼‍♀️💰🌊)

Up, down, turn around
Please don't let me hit the ground
Tonight, I think I'll walk alone
I'll find my soul as I go home
Up, down, turn around
Please don't let me hit the ground

Tonight, I think I'll walk alone
I'll find my soul as I go home
Oh, it's the last time, oh, it's the last time
Oh, it's the last time, oh, it's the last time, oh, it's the last time
Oh, I've never met anyone quite like you before
Oh, no, I've never met anyone quite like you before

"Wake up with determination, go to bed with frustration."

My daily round up song - should be "Wasted Sunsets" - from the album "Perfect Strangers" (1984) by Deep Purple. Still, Ritchie Blackmore's solo tugs at my heart each time I listen to it. The one thing you'll never get back is time...
