[th...]
Hello! I found this forum linked from https://www.benzoinfo.com/resources/. I think it was around 2010 I was prescribed Xanax XR and was on 3mg for most of this time. I left one area of the US and of course had to change doctors. My new doctor, when she found I was on Xanax XR, told me that they are not intended for long term use and she was going to help me taper off. This was perhaps 3 months ago. I struggle with memory problems. I'm currently on 1.5 mg of klonopin daily. I have 1 more month at this dose then I think my doctor will move me to 1mg klonopin. The vivid dreams and nightmares have started but on the upside I feel I am getting some of my cognitive abilities back. I am also taking 20mg Abilify and 150mg of Wellbutrin XL. I wish I had started tapering sooner. Although the damage has been done, I'm doing my best to recover as much of my mind as I can. I hope to find others here who I can relate to regarding the benzo withdrawal. I need help and would like to help as well. Thank you!
[ma...]
Hello thoughtform welcome to BenzoBuddies! We are glad you are here. I am sorry you are having a tough time. Withdrawal from benzos can be relentless but it will get better. The best way to come off benzodiazepines is a slow taper if you've used them for an extended length of time. The suggested taper rate is 5/10% every 10/14 days. Some of us need to taper more slowly, you can adjust the rate to meet your needs. You can learn more about tapering on our taper plans board, and you will receive plenty of support and encouragement here. I suggest you check out the Ashton Manual, you will find It is a valuable resource for learning about benzos and the effect these drugs have on our body. As well as taper/withdrawal information, it lists possible withdrawal symptoms symptoms I'll leave you a few links: The Ashton Manual.
