Well, I´ll describe my opinions/questions here and if the forum considers that it´s not the appropriate place to post it just warn me or delete, I´ll understand.

As is described in my profile (and thread), I´m on benzos for several years and on a more constant base in the last seven years. During this period, I didn´t realize any difference in sexual performance, except by the orgasm that took longer to be achieved (and the normal consequences of aging...). About 2 years ago I tried Viagra, not for any sexual problem but as a curiosity, considering this drug is not prescribed here (one can buy without prescription). And I didn´t find any difference using it, nothing like they say that should happen when we take the "blue pill". I tried other times and never felt any difference.

Last friday, when I tried Viagra for the first time after I started benzo withdrawal, I felt a big difference, it worked like they use to say that it had to! And the orgasm came earlier than I used to have in all these years on benzo (I´m still, but in a lower dosage). My question is: this means that Viagra makes no effects in people having benzos in regular basis? Anybody else has some experience about we could share?

Regards.

Sérgio.

i don't know - maybe someone here who has used that drug would know.

i am not clear if that is a problem or just a difference - i would not of expected the results you are having but i am not sure how they would interact with benzo use.

I´ve never heard about relation between benzo and Viagra, too. But, if I have to give my testimony, I´d say that there´s some influence, by my own experience. And if there is any place I can find an answer, it is here! Where are the men of this forum to give their opinions?

Sergio, There is another thread started by a female asking the same questions. Well, not about viagra, but about benzos and libido. (sexual desire).

I'll find the link.

But I have a male friend that was prescribed benzos, and the doctor said he automatically prescribes viagra along with benzo for his male patients. But this guy couldn't have them due to heart problems. So this shows that doctors know there is a link between benzo and decreased libido or function. It would make sense though, that as your benzo amount decreases, your libido will increase, making viagra work better. You're waking up! :)

swimmer i added a link to my first post in this thread - the poster had a lowered libedo (i think) maybe you could read it and see if it helps.

i have sent tony a message - unfortunately there are not all that many men on the forum team - surf around and see what you can find in the way of male support.

I tried it once when I was on a high benzo dose and all I got was a huge headache. It never occurred to me that it might be benzo related. It's an interesting theory but would probably require more testing. :)

The reason Benzo's worked so well for me “when they worked” was because I suffered no apparent side effects including no loss of libido or ability.

It was a different story when I tried SSRI’s I had libido and was able to perform but it was impossible to ejaculate and very frustrating.  :pokey:  :tickedoff:

I agree - no negative effect with benzos - but decreased libido with anti depressants.

In my opinion (and experience), libido has to do with the whole state of weel being. It means that, when one start using a benzo, and it´s working, the libido will be high too. But when we achieve tolerance, and start to have problems to sleep, weakness etc, the libido, as a consequence, drops. And Viagra do nothing about this, it didn´t improve libido but the erection quality. And I felt nothing when using Viagra on regular benzo doses, except by the undesirable effects, like red face, headaches etc. I only felt the "good" effects when I tried it now, that I´m in a low benzo dosage. May be coincidence, I hope it´s not...  :)

Maybe I should try it.  :) I'm down to 2.3 mg Valium now.

Ya T, try it and post what did you feel.

I don´t know about where you live but here Viagra is not a prescribed drug. It´s the real "land of opportunities..."

Ya, silver, maybe there´s not many men in the forum. I remember I post here my concern about the different number of men and women in BB - apparently  the great majority here are women.

Anyway, I think that such issue (interaction between Viagra and Benzos), if not clarified here, will be nowhere! I still keep my opinion, lets see what will happen next time I try Viagra again!  :yippee:
