HOW TO TAPER OFF 1MG XANAX DAILY AFTER 6 MONTHS USE

Hi there i was wondering if anyone has experience on such a low dose how to taper without withdrawal symptoms . Shall i switch to Diazepam and then taper ? I am already experiencing tolerance withdrawal at 1 MG XR a day of XANAX after 6 months of use.

Hi Yannis,

1mg isn’t a low dose, really. XanaxXR isn’t meant to be cut. Will your doc give you .25mg or .5mg Xanax tablets to taper with?

I thought 1mg is low dose too, since the doc told me the day max is 7..........hooked even for a month.

For perspective, it took 9 months to taper 2mg of Xanax. I started at 1/2 of a .25mg tablet, worked up to 2mg over time as it lost effectiveness, as benzodiazepines do.

 

I tried to quit at .25mg...could not, I was too symptomatic and had to go back and taper to .0625mg. Xanax is super strong.
