I'm currently going through a Klonopin taper.  I started at 2mg/day, which I've been on for years.  I'm going down .5mg every 4 weeks.  I've tried this taper schedule before and failed because of terrible nightmares and insomnia.  This time around I'm really hoping I can come off benzos for good.

Welcome to Benzo Buddies. We are a support and information group for those wanting to get off of benzodiazepines.

This link explains the mechanism of benzo's, and is a great place to start self educating.

Tapering is the safest, and most tolerable method for getting off of benzo's.

The max recommended cut is 5-10% every 2 weeks. Many of us have to go slower, depending on our medication and what we can handle. Here are the boards on tapering. Your rate of cutting is very severe, and not recommended. A slower taper will greatly reduce symptoms of withdraw.

In the forums pertinent to your circumstances, you will find other buddies going through their own tapers. This is a good place to ask questions, and receive guidance.

Again, welcome to Benzo Buddies, you have come to a safe, confidential informative support group, and we are happy to have you as a member. You can do this, with knowledge and finding coping skills.

Please take some time to Create a Signature. This will help other members understand your history so they will be better able to support you. Go to the top of the page and select Profile, then choose Forum Profile, insert drug history/timelines into the text box and click Change Profile.

We look forward to reading more from you over the forthcoming days and weeks.

Take care,

BB Team

Welcome to BB ejob11, Bella left you some really good links to get you started, my advice to you...read all you can starting with the first link.

I am on my third taper, and almost finished with it, and I used to say I failed...but I didn't fail, I just did not have a good plan and was going too fast and cutting too much, you will learn a lot about tapering here at BB, so dig in, get busy reading and one other really important thing, take time to write your signature that helps us to know more about your drug history, Bella also left a link for that. I will be honest with you, some buddies here may not answer your posts without it...sadly I am one of them usually, but I have a Friend that comes here all the time and posts to Newbies and I think it will do me good to post here once in awhile. Best wishes on your Journey to Wellness. Stay Strong. 💖Peace and Healing.
