Acamprosate

I used it for almost a year. My chemical dependency doctor thought it might work for benzo withdrawal since it is used by alcoholics the first year sober to reduce protracted withdrawal symptoms. Unfortunately,  I don't think it helped with benzo withdrawal symptoms. Not sure if it did anything. I easily tapered off of it with no problems.

I was told that acamprosate is basically a form of taurine that is able to cross the blood brain barrier.

Yep been on them for alcohol abuse. They are supposed to stop cravings for alcohol but didn't work for me.

You should try Baclofen.

Yes I've been on it twice. Once when I was on zero benzos for alcohol addiction and it helped with cravings for 6 weeks than stopped working. When my cravings came back recently my psychiatrist had no problem giving it to me. I had a bad reaction! It works on the GABA receptors as well and I'm not sure how but it messed me up. Last time it just gave me bad gas  :D. I had bad insomnia and horrible anxiety. I stopped it after 3 days and I went back to normal in 2. I'm on other meds that could have caused it but I think it was the fact it works with the same receptors.

Was on Baclofen when I hurt my neck a few years back. Think its a muscle relaxant?  All they did was make me wanna sleep! lol

Yes its a muscle relaxant and anxiolytic, it's being studied in france for the treatment of alcoholism:

many people have used it with success:
