GABA receptors

Hi. I am wondering about healing of the GABA receptors. Do they start up regulating as the benzo dose goes down or is there no healing until you are completely through taking the benzo? Thank you for any info you can provide

Now by no means I am no doctor, but through readings I have gain some knowledge. Now no one knows for certain but they say even when tapering your GABA receptors are Up Regulating. But on another study it takes a minimum of 2 weeks to start making GABA. So there neurons are basically trying to resensitize and your brain is trying to make natural GABA. The process takes a great deal of time so that's why we taper because 1. We need our brain to naturally make GABA again and 2. Reduce the symptoms of withdrawal.
