Doxepin

Any advice on low dose doxepin for sleep ?

I just started to take this.  I find for me, it is better than the trazodone I was taking.  It helps me sleep at a small dose of 10 mg. I worry about the effect wearing off.  My doc told me that it is associated with weight gain.  That would ok for awhile since I have lost a bit of weight during this process.

Doxepin is very similar to the amitryptiline that I was on for many years. Not the worst sleep drug, if it works for you. Just keep your dosage as low as possible (try even half a pill), keep your carbs down, and stay active, and you won't get fat.  If you take it for very long (more than a few weeks), you will want to taper off.
